  • You're proud you got her fired???

ok it's been a VERY VERY VERY long time since I have posted but this little story could NOT be forgotten and I had to write it.

OK so I have a new boss. (I'm a nanny) who is about to pop out number 2. We were having a chat about getting discounts and I was talking about how my hubby is rather good at it. So she bring out this little gem.

Apparently she went one day while preggers with number one to get a lovely new lounge set. She found one she liked, but hated the price. So she went to the lady on the floor the "bargain" her down. She said that she refused to leave the store till she got the price she wanted. Two hours later and she told me that she had got down so low that the store actually paid money for the lounges because she went well past the cost.

She then said her sister had gone into the same store to get the same set. Asked the person on the floor for it and told them that her "sister" had got them for $X amount. Floor person apparently was rather curt to her and told her "tell your sister that, that lady has now been fired because of that "discount" she gave"

Boss said she was rather proud she'd managed to do something that no one else could do after her. Told me that "the belly" always wins out.

I'm appalled. Nice lady but OMG!
I am evil, I should change my middle name legally TO evil, I'm proud of my evilness! Makes life fun! bwhaha

I don't regard her as nice at all:

    - She's proud that she got the saleswoman fired.

    - She used her pregnancy as a way to get what she wanted.

    - She sent her sister to the store to try the same technique.

    - She thinks she's special because nobody else could do it after she did.

I can't believe this woman is having children. What horrors will she teach them?

ditto... she may seem nice, but clearly she is manipulative and arrogant (to be bragging about being so manipulative)... those are two qualities that are mutually exclusive from nice.

ditto, she lacks a concience as well; who in their right mind but an sc would be proud of costing someone their job.

you may want to watch your back with this one.

Yes, the lady in question is undoubtedly a heartless biatch.. but the retail person in question really got themselves fired. If an SC is demanding a price you don't have the authority to give them, you say no. If they persist, you get a manger and make it their problem. End of story.

Agreed. People like this have no conscience about the way they treat other people.

I only feel for her children who are going either suffer when karma finally comes and kicks mommy in the behind or worse, grow up to be like her.

I bet the boss could have afforded 2 of the lounge sets without feeling the crunch. I hate people who can afford stuff but want a huge discount. I can understand discounts if your buying a lot of the merchandise, but I hate these Gimme! whores.

Also, I'm hoping that the employee telling the sister that the cw got fired just used that as a ruse to get sister not to bargain.

Also, maybe the manager of the first employee decided to hide and let the employee take the fall. BaristaTrav has a good point, though.

Don't teach me a lesson; all I learn is that you are an asshole.

                Nice?

Some woman is jobless in this economy so that this woman could have some lawn furniture at a discount she wasn't entitled to? And she's happy about that? Especially in light of the fact that she's well off enough that she clearly doens't have to worry about where her kid's next meal is coming from.

Hm. Evidently usage of the word "nice" I wasn't previously aware of.

I second the suggestion that you need to watch your back lest you end up with a shiv in it. The woman thinks other people's lives are there for her to toy with.

I agree - not by any definition of the word nice. I shudder to think of what those kids will act like by their tweens. Tell her I said to please stop having kids. Seriously. She is mean, and a selfish person.

My mother in law is a bargainer. She has more money than I would know what to do with, but she bargains for everything. She once got free ice cream because it was late and a bit melted. She was nice about it, though - not like the OP's boss. I have decided that is part of the reason she has so much money - she never spends it unless she absolutely has to.

To be fair, the employee was an idiot to put her job on the line to discount that furniture. I mean, thinking she did it for commission doesn't even make sense if the store took a loss. I am also of the opinion the person may have lied about her termination. Probably not, but maybe. We really can only know the truth if the employee in question finds our board. We can hope, right?

I have often noticed that, people with more money than they know what to do with seem to be the worst bargain fiends/hagglers o_O Almost as if that's how "they" (read: most likely their ancestors) got rich in the first place.

I disagree. People are rarely black or white, but are most often shades of grey. Few people are totally evil or total saints. And I have no problem picturing a person who can be nice, and arrogant, and manipulative, and have none of it be contradictory.

Hell, there are days I only have to look in the mirror to find that person.

I am nice, giving, generous, honest, caring, protective, and loving.

I am vicious, mean, deceitful, stingy, hateful, vindictive, and petty.

Neither black nor white, but grey. All of the above adjectives describe me.

This is not contradictory. This is the human condition. This is life.

The above philosophical argument aside, yeah, I think the OP's boss is a raging bitch.

I think you might want to step carefully around her. that story is definitely a red warning flag of some sorts.

Ya, she'll fire you then brag that she did something no one else is able to do.

What a miserable existence she leads.

Oh, I agree with Jester, SmileyEagle, and for the same reasons he cited.

I'm a very nice lady. I'm also a vindictive, arrogant bitch.

But even so, I don't revel in the pain of others. No matter what.

Bragging about being a bitch to get a discount and still be nice? I'll give her that one. Nobody's perfect.

Bragging about putting a family under a hardship over a set of fucking lawn furniture? That's....well...I hate to use the word, but that's evil. Bad evil, not fun evil.
