That EW... unbe-fing-lievable. Some folks just can not, will not think outside themselves.
I forget that they do not think we are human beings with lives outside of the physical store. They truly, truly do not see past the nametag, vest, whatever....
OP, glad your mom's ok.
Teach a SC to fish... and they will whine about you not catching, filleting, frying, and serving it up on a silver platter for them. - EvilEmpryss
Like everyone has said before. Family comes first. Screw the job and the SCs. Like you I would walk out right after I got off the phone with the family member.
I have a little bit of an update on this thread. My mum spent the night in hospital for observation, and all her tests came back fine. The doctors think she had a bad reaction to her medication, and have since changed it.
I went back into work yesterday. A customer walks up to me (NOT the on from the original story).
SC: And where were you running to on Monday night?
Me: Huh?
SC: I saw you! Grabbing your things and running out the door. You flew right past me! I got a fright!
Me: Oh. It was a family emergency. I had to leave.
SC: What kind of family emergency?
Me: I'd rather not talk about it.
SC: No. Tell me. What kind of family emergency??
Me: This is none of your business.
SC: Fine! I guess I've been told!
Me: Oh. It was a family emergency. I had to leave.
SC: What kind of family emergency?
Cripes! You tell her it was a family emergency and her first response is to ask what happened, and not hope that everyone is ok? What a self-absorbed twat.

Faith is about what you do. It's about aspiring to be better and nobler and kinder than you are. It's about making sacrifices for the good of others. - Dresden

Um, yeah, you've been told. What made you think it was any of your business to begin with?
I'm glad everything's alright with your mom and sister. As for the EW, she can go fuck herself.

1. I'm glad your mom is ok and you did do the right thing by zipping home. Even if the only thing was to comfort your little sister...
2. I'm loving the fact you got a "F-Bomb" out towards the sucky customers...
3. Did you happen to get word of what they said to and about you after you left?
4. I'm also glad you managed to offend the nozy twat...did she have anything to add to the proceedings to?

The co-worker who I handed the phone number list filled me in. He said it took over two hours for another manager to reach the pub, and that those two hours after I left were an absolute nightmare. The booking were not happy at all, and frequently asked to speak to a manager, not believing anyone when they were told there wasn't one on site.
The co-worker that took over after I left is apparently being eyed up for a promotion as well.
As for the nosey bitch, she snubbed me every time she saw me for the rest of the week. It was hilarious, she actually stuck her nose in the air every time I walked near her.
