Speaking of returned checks, long before I met her my wife had a rent check returned to her apartment office. The apartment office told her that because this she was now required to pay her rent by certified check. She went to office to find out why since there was plenty of money in her bank account. The check was returned for "lack of endorsement." The apartment office had not endosed the check before depositing it. She blew a gasket and tore them a new bottom orifice for their stupidity, which caused the manager to come out and take over. The situation was corrected to her satisfaction.

Quoth AtDIelement View PostI'm from the US. The bank I work for is Canadian owned, but we're the American subsidiary.
I'm not going to name which bank it is, but I can say we had a computer merger a few months ago that people didn't like too much.
TD Bank actually is the legal name of the bank in Canada, TD Canada Trust is the trade name they go by. Toronto Dominion Bank is the full name.
The one I used is the American subsiduary of BMO (Which most people don't know is actually Bank of Montreal). Other things people don't know - Scotiabank is Bank of Nova Scotia yet they're the largest bank in Jamaica (or so I've heard)Otaku

Which reminds, me, I ought to report them to the department of health for the dirt pile the dumped into what used to be our pool and have done nothing with. I don't know where they got it, but it came with a million crickets. Who knows what else is in it, except the crabgrass that appears to be growing in it, now.

Only once did my bank end up with the wrong money in my account and that was actually my work's fault.
Explanation: My brother and I work at the same store. My brother started there long before I did but due to some confusion when I joined, his pay ended up in my account. He sorted it at work then we went to the bank and explained it to them. They happily allowed me to go over my daily withdrawal amount so I could give him his hard earned cash and that was that."Honestly officer, he asked for a shot and I gave him one. Why do you need the handcuffs?" - MannersMakethMan

Ugh. Wachovia screwed me one time with a bounced check. Apparently they process all outgoing funds for a day and then process deposits. Um, yeah, if you did the deposits first, I would have had the money.
So basically they did this (numbers made up):
Beginning balance for day: $200
Checks -300
okay, so account is now at negative $100, oops! can't have that! check bounces, fees are incurred
deposit paycheck: +750
new account balance: $600
Cause as soon as the deposit was processed, the "bounced" check went through, but I was still shorted the stupid fee.
Don't wanna; not gonna.
