It really is. Come to the UK and go exploring Scotland. Our countryside is just amazing. We have towns such as Stirling which are small in size but have so much heritage and stuff to do in them.

Oh Edinburgh is rubbish. There is about a days worth of fun to be had. If you do come see London, Manchester and then come to Scotland. Go to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Fort William, Stirling and Aberdeen. And if you really feel like it get a boat or plane to one the outer Hebrides.

Quoth protege View PostPA takes about 5-6 hours to drive across. With that said, I-80 has the most boring scenery of all the roads I've ever been on. There's very little to look at.I am not an a**hole. I am a hemorrhoid. I irritate a**holes!

When I planned my 45 day trip to UK/Ireland I made sure to include other areas to go to that were easily accessible by train or bus. Alas... Glamis Castle in Scotland needs a better bus route to and from Dundee......."There is a sadist inside me. She likes cake." - Krys Wolf, my friend

Quoth dalesys View PostCome a little farther on I80... we've got a stretch that's 40-45 miles laser straight, 37 miles between exits and dead level ... you can see the earth's curvature (Bonneville Salt Flats)Supposedly, in that area, the car saw 120mph
One place I'd like to hit up, is Norway...especially Stavanger, where my ancestors came from. From what I've seen, the scenery is pretty coolAerodynamics are for people who can't build engines. --Enzo Ferrari

If you come to the UK come to norwich. Everyone forgets it, but for a while it was being considered as the capital along with london because at the time it was richer and just as large. So imagine how much history it has! Also, a pub for every day of the year and a church for every sunday, a complete norman castle, relatively complete city walls dating from the 1300's, and you can walk across most of it in a few hours. There's a huge amount of history packed into a tiny, tiny city.Deepak Chopra says, "Fear deprives people of choice. Fear shrinks the world into isolated, defensive enclaves. Fear spirals out of control. Fear makes everyday life seem clouded over with danger.

Quoth elsporko View PostNow if we're counting winter driving I've had a trip where I drove over 8 hours and was still in the U.P.
Texan: "I hear tell that this is the biggest farm in these parts?"
Israeli farmer: "Well, it starts down there by those trees, the other end is way over there by those rocks, and it goes all the way back down to the stream."
Texan: "Is that all? Why back home in Texas I've got a spread where I can get in my tractor in the morning and drive all day, and I still haven't reached the other end!"
Israeli farmer: "Yeah, I had a tractor like that once..."

Quoth C-130 View Post...the many Americans who come to say the UK and congregate for some reason on landmarks only. They fail to get outside of london and Edinburgh a world exists.
And of course the masochist in me would want to visit Surrey to try to find my ex-fiance. Stupid, stupid masochistic side.

Quoth Broomjockey View PostIt's not just that, it's that the US is very large compared to European countries, and the UK. In the EU, you travel for a day or two, and you're in another country, often. In the US, you might be in the same state, still. When you can travel like that, then you often won't bother leaving the country.

Though, I must say, would you mind moving your country a bit closer? Those 10 hour flights across the Atlantic suck.
