So there's a really big storm going on. I had one lesson scheduled for today, but had e-mailed and called the student's mom to cancel 4 days ago. I let her know that we're always the last neighborhood in my county to be shoveled, and I didn't feel comfortable keeping the lesson if there was gonna be a blizzard. I finally head back from her an hour ago. She was angry that I had missed the lesson and wanted to know where I was. This is one of two students whose house I drive to. They pay an extra $5 for travel expenses and it's not too far, so I really don't mind. I asked if she had looked outside yet. She's by water and city, so it's not as bad there. Right now I'd say the snow is well over 2 feet nearing 3. Of course our neighborhood hasn't been plowed yet, and it's still snowing out so I don't expect any trucks to come by until tomorrow.

We're also powerless, but we have a generator meaning tomorrow for the Superbowl we'll have lots of friends. No one's been able to get out to the main road yet, so we don't know if trucks have even been in our area yet. I don't expect to have power until Monday or Tuesday, but it's supposed to snow again then.

When I find my cell phone I'll post a pic of my car...or my new igloo as it may be. I basically own a snowball with a side view mirror. I hope my phone's not in my car.

Oh, please do, I was looking online for some photos of the snowstorm, but I didn't find any from online users, only stock photos from news agencies.Somehoe I like it better when its a photo of someone's own car, or street or whatever.

So I've attached some pics. The first is of my pool or the place where my pool should be. The next is the igloo car. Then there are a couple of the woods around my house. And finally a piccy of where we cleared away snow for the birds. There were almost 20 when I went to take the shot, but all flew away but that one. I've named him mooshoo because he is a pig. Once the driveway is plowed I'll get a picture of the field.

Wow, those are awesome, and I like the way you explained what was going on in them.

The poor bird, I feel so sorry for wild animals in winter.

We are expecting snow again here next week but I doubt it will be as deep as you have it!

I had a bird show up after our White Christmas that I had never seen before. I tried to get a picture of it, but everytime I would "click", he would move.

            It got to the point he would land right in front of my backdoor and just tease me;

I'm in Alexandria Virginia, so I can totally sympathize. A neighbor who'd never noticed me or my car before asked me what kind of Van I owned. It was my Corolla layerd under 2 feet of snow, at MINIMUM. I've got a busy morning tomrrow....

Well I totally sympathise. The UK went through its wee cold spell and it wasn't hell. A government highly unprepared for it. It does looks lovely though.

Build me a snowman? Please!! I miss the snow... sometimes. All we've gotten for two weeks is rain every 3-4 days and a mudman is not quite the same thing.
Make a list of important things to do today.
At the top of your list, put 'eat chocolate'
Now, you'll get at least one thing done today

I miss seeing snow, but I don't miss the cold. Those were some lovely pictures.

                      Thanks for the pictures!

Now I have tons of extra respect for my cousin and their neighbors. They got fed up waiting for the plows and shoveled out their street today... just in time for the next storm. I can't belive how crazy this winter has been.

                        Cool pictures!

We didn't get any snow this year...wonder if I've just jinxed myself now?

What I don't get is how, with 4 days notice, Mummy hadn't realized you canceled! Does she not check her voice mail?

Can't comment too much on the snow. It stopped surprising me years ago, even if I still complain about it. And we've been lucky so far, as far as totals go. But we're due up tomorrow for that one that hit the midAtlantic.
Any day you're looking down at the dirt instead of up at the dirt is a good day.

So an update, it started snowing again yesterday, it's still snowing now. We still have not been plowed (One tried, but couldn't get through), we still have not had our power started, and we lost cable. It's hell out here! A very very cold hell (Our heat is electric). I am wearing two sweatshirts and three blankets. Yesterday I made spaghetti and meatballs on the grill. Today I'm making pork and chicken in a honey mustard marinade and french fries on the grill. At least we're eating well. My house is all windows though, so the cold has been getting in very quickly. A bunch of the guys around the neighborhood took snowmobiles out to town to pick up food and gas for the generators. Apparently the one main road in our area is the worst one. Some of the smaller roads were plowed by people in the area. Schools are officially out for the week which I usually wouldn't be complaining about, but I'm a student teacher and I actually kinda like getting the experience. There're supposed to be more light showers on Monday. My dog is snoring. Ok, now I'm just typing whatever comes into my mind cause I've been stuck in my house for 6 days without power and I'm bored. I ran out of yarn! The scarf I was making went from 4 feet to 12 feet in just a day. I don't need a 12 foot long scarf, but I made one. My cable is gone! I've watched everything I have on Tivo, including celebrity rehab. Why would my Tivo record celebrity rehab! It's stupid! Why did I watch celebrity rehab!? I think I'm loosing it. I want running water. I'm tired of hand wipes and hauling buckets of water up from the basement to flush the toilet. How did people ever survive without power? I don't get it. At least I have a milk steamer. Yum. Frothy hot chocolate and baileys. Yes, I'm legal. I can have baileys! And beer! I finished all of my woodchuck cider. No! What can I make with whiskey? I have a bunch for cooking, but that stuff is crap. I'm almost out of rum. I just have enough to either have a glass, or a very nice sweet potato pie. I wonder if I could make that on the grill? I've already made cookies on the grill. It totally works.
