...Frothy hot chocolate and baileys. Yes, I'm legal. I can have baileys! And beer! I finished all of my woodchuck cider. No! What can I make with whiskey? I .
I still have power and satellite, but I'm bored as all get out too. My neighbor bought me beer for snow blowing their driveway, I think I might crack into that soon since my wife will be bunking down at work tonight. Good luck to you!

I'm not used to being home all day, and there's only so many reruns of Roseanne on Oxygen that you can watch before you want to go outside and shovel snow for no reason.

You need a yarn stash so that yarn emergencies like this wont happen. Do you have one? I've got a yarn stash, but sometimes even tho I have tons of the stuff I want something that I dont have and cant get out of the house to go get...and nothing in my stash will do for anything.

I probably have enough yarn in the house to keep me busy for the next 100 years. I still always need more. Last time we had a big storm come, my dad and I (yeah, he knits...I crochet and knit) decided that a yarn store run was in order.

Stocked up on yarn for at least two projects and some new knitting needles and crochet hooks. I think I garter stitched a scarf over two days during the Christmas week blizzard that we had. (snowed for four days) I started about five other projects that weekend too.

Seconding the stash idea, even if it's just a rubbermaid tote or two. I've actually got some of mine under the bed in those space saver bags. I do need to get a big cube of 2, because the cat keeps running over them and poking holes.

But, even if you don't use your yarn, you can always burrow into a big stash to stay warm.
Any day you're looking down at the dirt instead of up at the dirt is a good day.

Umm... I'm going to be a voice of reason here and say that under no circumstances do you want a stash. Unless you want to come and make it out of some of my excess yarn. Once you start it's impossible to stop. And then it takes over your place.

Significant others then use it as an excuse to a) take up lots of room with chaimail b) claim that you have just as much storage space as they do, because they count your yarn into how much storage space you get.

Oddly enough, we don't have that problem, despite my SO being into chainmail too (and paintball. And drawing.) Of course, I knit him 2 pairs of socks, and now he's hooked, so that's probably why.

Oooohh, socks are a good idea to win him over. I should try that. I need lots more space for my yarn, since I got the tiny closet when we moved. How is that fair, with my yarn and textbooks and yarn and computer stuff for work and yarn and shoes and yarn? Mean fiance!!

I repeat. Space Bags. Triple your stash space.

However! This does mean you have to reseal the bag after you take out what you want to work with. Oh well. It's worth it.

I've lost count of how many rubbermaid totes of yarn that I have. It may be more than 8. (maybe 2 of the really big 50 pound totes and then a smattering of some smaller totes. I dont think I have anything smaller than a 30 pounder)

I hurt my neck earlier last fall when I was organizing a small part of my stash in my closet. Picked up a box and then all of a sudden I had a really bad pain in my neck and chest. (who'd have thought that yarn and about 20yds of fabric would be so heavy?) My neurologist thinks that I popped a disc in my neck. It still hurts. I'm not allowed to pick up any of my yarn totes till the neuro says it's ok.

I just gave away a good portion of my stash. I had enough leftover Red Heart yarn to make about 10 afghans. All of it scrap, I gave it away to a neighbor who donated it to an old folks home where the residents crochet and knit afghans for the homeless. Made a nice dent in my stash, which I'm doing my best to fill with new yarn.

I had a stash till I used it all up. Made mittens for my mom, socks for my dad, a new hat, a skirt, and am currently finishing up blocks for an afghan. I was so desperate for yarn that I cut my fabric stash into strips, tied it together along with random edge straightenings I had sitting around, and made a big ball of fabric yarn. Made a cool scarf. I'll post a pic sometime.

My dog loves to pick up the yarn I'm using and walk away with it. Half the time I don't notice, and all the sudden something's tugging on my crochet hook. I look down and there's an entire ball of yarn leading around the house.

Hey FF, make me some finger tipless gloves? I love those tight gloves they have for kids except my middle finger is too long and after about a week I'm tipless on my fingers. I really liked those purple and black ones too. *sighs*

Cool! fabric yarn! I tried to crochet a rug out of fabric. Made my hands hurt like crazy. I wonder what happened to it...I dont remember throwing it out.

You stashbusted...now you have an excuse to go yarn shopping.

I'm about 3 or 4 inches of knitting away from finishing a scarf. I'm staying up late tonight to finish it. Yay!

I'm going to crochet a matching hat out of the leftovers from the scarf. My dad's birthday is in a few weeks.

While I admire your ingenuity, wouldn't it have lasted longer if you were sewing with it? (I've taken up period costuming, so my perception of sewing times has changed, since I'm trying to hand-hem and then hand stitch together every single @#$(*^ piece, but still...)

Hehe, yeah. I'm not the best sewer, mostly just do little things and stuffed animals. Wouldn't even attempt clothes. I had a bunch of little fabric scraps sitting around from work. Most of it was also edge straightenings. I don't know why I kept them, but other people from work before I quit would put their scraps in a bag for me. It piled up. I could have made something else, but it turned into an awesome scarf.
