  • I'm not going to call you a liar, but....

Car gets towed in for a two-hour parking violation.

Guy claims he wasn’t there for two hours

We tell him that his tires were chalked (a chalk mark is drawn on the sidewall of the tire down to the ground and extended out by several inches. When the car is re-checked in two hours, if this mark is unbroken, then the car has not moved)

Guy says he left and came back several times, and must have, in the mother of all coincidences, parked in a way that realigned the chalk marks (Technically not impossible, but the chances of this are so slim as to be impossible)

    We tell him such

He insists he left and came back, he even knows what time he came back and has a receipt from a beer store to prove it! He bought a six pack at 7:45pm, and was back in that space at 8pm on the button! And we’d better release that car for free or he’ll sue us for all kinds of bad things ™ since it's now 9:45, and that means he didn't get his 2 hours! And we'll pay for that!!

We ask if he’s SURE he parked the car at 8pm

    Yes he says, absolutely

Is he REALLY certain? These things could end up in a court of law, and we need to be sure that HE’S sure after all.

    Oh yes, absolutely, he says.

We inform him that at 8pm, his car had already been impounded for THREE HOURS as verifiable by security camera footage

He blusters, calls us names, and hangs up.

Did he honestly think he had a CHANCE? I mean really.

...but I can't think of a way to finish that sentence.

Why tell him? It would have been more fun to reveal this in court.

Where I work, we must not call the customer a liar but we are allowed to say that we find what he is saying "unlikely".

I think the current term in vogue is "honesty impaired."

Now, that's just sad; trying to say he moved his car several hours after it had been towed.

Wow, he must have been waiting in line forever!!!

And he already admitted to buying beer. Can't we just call him alcohol-impaired?

wow doesn't SC time usually work the opposite way as in 5 minutes is 30 in sc time?
Honestly.... the image of that in my head made me go "AWESOME!"..... and then I remembered I am terribly strange.-Red dazes

Well, if the shoe fits . . . or in this case the hand fits around that beer can just right . . .

And isn't it funny how being alcohol-challenged and honesty-challenged seem to go hand-in-hand? Kinda like gasoline and a flame. . . .

Well, if truth-impaired means lacking truth, alcohol-impaired would be lacking alcohol. He should be called alcohol-infused.
