  • Don't you park there!

Okay, this isn't really as horrible as most of the other stories, and I tend to ramble on, so I'll keep it simple.

I was out there gathering shopping trolleys again. What a waste of my time, since I'm a janitor. Anyway, I just cleaned out this one trolley pen, and I'm getting ready to take my run of trolleys up to the bay.

Along comes Mr. Lazybones. He decides to drive right up to the trolley pen and attempt to park there. Since I'm still around, I shake my head at him, 'no.' He throws his hands up at me, but he doesn't speak. Instead, he tries to get a little further in. So I shake my head again, 'no.'

"Damn it, not letting me park," he complains! But he pulls out and I start pushing the trolleys up to the bay. I come back, and see that he's actually found a parking space, a real one.

See, a lot of people where I work will think they're allowed to park in the trolley pens, even if there are trolleys in it. Then they get angry when their cars get scratched. I wasn't in the mood to get screamed at by a CSM for being misapropriated into doing not my job (cart-pushing) today.

I'm surprised he didn't complain to the management, actually. But at least I was able to stop one of them.

How would his car fit? Most cart returns 'round here are so thin you can ONLY fit the trolleys in. And one row at that.

I can see it.. If the car is of the smaller side, It would fit in some of the places around here (Normally 3/4 the size of a parking spot).. Something like a Geo Metro would fit without any problems...Anything Bigger, then you would need a bottle of Vaseline and a running start.

Possible, since we do have "TLF" (tire and lube) on the premesis. However, our trolley pens are big enough to hold three sets of trolleys, and take up one entire car's length. You'd be surprised how many people try this crap. Frequently, with trolleys still in the pen, so they can't be rescued.

We have had people, both times the eledrley try to fit their Crown Vic into a carriage corral. Breaks the corral, take weeks to get it fixed or replaced causing tons of problems with loose carts, and lots of paperwork and a SC blaming us.

Yeah, our supermarket's trolley pen was just a parking space with an awning over it.

I feel bad for this, but don't yell at me because i blame you for it.

Ever since i started reading stories about people parking in cart returns I've found myself wanting to see if my toyota could do it >_< but all the cart returns in the part of cali i live in seem to have dividers so i can't ^_^

although in my diffence i wouldn't do it if there were cars in the coral and i'd just pull in then pull out again, giggling as i sed off (yeah, i'm mature like that)

Why do I have a feeling that people like the SC in the OP are the reason for this?

Hey Mouse, I am in SoCal - the Von's by my house has a cart corral you could fit a Toyota into, definitely! You have a Von's near your house?

I've seen people park in the empty cart corrals at the wholesale club! Which is amazing in and of itself, since we've normally got a lot of carts in them at any time of day!

One time they did it, it was snowing out, like they were parking there to avoid getting any snow on their pwecious compensation device.

I've joked around about parking in one of those, when I was having trouble finding a spot. It never even occurred to me that someone might actually do it. Maybe one of these days I'll actually see one of those idiots.
