There was actually an open box sitting in electronics yesterday, full of Avatar DVDs. I had a fleeting temptation to hold one up and draw attention to it just to see how many fanbois exist in my town, but my job isn't worth that

I found the movie entertaining, but I don't get all the fan-jizzing over it.
I'm not really interested in this movie, but I have to tell you ShinyGreenApple, I love your avatar & I want it! It was that scene that convinced me to watch BBT & I've been hooked ever since!!!!

Yeah I have to set up the display later tonight. I doubt we'll have that many people coming there to buy it seeing how I would assume everyone will go to Wal Mart not Kroger. Still I have to make sure we abosolutely do NOT sell a single DVD before 12:01am. We could get fined $2,000 if we did. So how many of you think there will be SCs trying to convince me to let them buy it anyway since I have them right there, what's the big deal?

      Should have known. >.>
      Ok time for a threadjack

When Saints Row 2 was released, it was due to come out midnight on a Tuesday/Wednesday. Day off work Tues and Weds, so I'm chilling at home. Get a call at like 9:30am "Hi this is ... from (gamestore). You can pick up saints row 2 now or anytime today."

Turns out that morning the Manger from Gamestore saw some kid walking by with the game. Asked him what happened - turns out (otherstore) in the mall was selling the game early. He went down, brought a copy, called the distributors. They fined otherstore and said the gamestore could sell the game from today.

Sadly didn't happen with a OMGHUGEDEAL game like GTA IV - woulda been posting pics online non-stop for that going 'hahahaha I get to play it early' :P

BBT makes me laugh away stress like nothing else can I only started paying attention to it last year when they repeated the one where Penny gives Sheldon the Leonard Nimoy napkin, that was great. I think my favorite ep has been The Precious Fragmentation with all the insane LotR references.

EDIT: The avatar was made by a livejournal user whose name escapes me at the moment. I had to snag it up straight away

Actually, they're tying it to Earth Day.
Which is what I figured, since Avatar seems to be a "message" movie and one of the messages seems to be environmentalism.

My fiance and I went to Entertainmart this evening to sell a couple of DVDs. The guy at the desk told us they were going to be opened later then usual for Avatar. I didn't even know it was out already. Don't know if I'm interested enough to rent it to see it.

Bleh. Honestly, it looks like over-hyped, over-produced propaganda from Hollywood. But whatever--to each his (or her) own. I'm a bit of a rebel when it comes to popular stuff.

You think its bad now? Wait until the deluxe edition, extended edition, 3D edition, mega leet Criterion diamond pearl edition, super mega gigantic double 3D with more tail edition, and 10 other releases all come out.

On that note I'm sick of hearing about Avatar as well. My boss asked me if I was going to be at the store at midnight to get the movie. I simply told him "well you know I wouldn't be outside at midnight even for Asia's new album coming out in May. So I certainly will not be outside for Avatar."

On that note I can't wait for Asia's new album... which I'll buy at normal store hours thank you very much.

I hate hype, myself, but I learned long ago to just ignore it and watch a movie if I felt like it, even if the hype machine was working full tilt. No point in denying myself something just because it happens to be what everyone else is doing at the time.

Not watching TV really does keep me from being inundated with that carp, though.

I don't watch TV or go to movies anymore, last one I saw in theaters was Constantine.

So, I have no idea about this movie, however, I'm getting tired of hearing the hype and all my friends drooling over it.

I'm sure I'll eventually see it when I come home one day and my roommates are watching it.

It is a wonder there wasn't a £D release to coincide with new 3D TVs.

I just didn't want to be exposed to all the tree-hugging nonsense.

I've just never been an environmentalist...it gets shoved in my face enough as it is. THankfully I had today off of work.

There's not really much in the way of "tree-hugging nonsense" in the movie.

It's much more a "natives versus invaders" story. With the usual bits about more advanced tech not necessarily being representative of how civilized you are and all that. And some really awesome nature shots that are more about wonder and discovery than any sort of ecological message.
