Wowa. I knew we had some rpgers here. But I am talking about the stone version. (Shift to into defense). It works decently well for us. The only other rpg superhero I found was the freaking gurps version, which just needlessly complicated for our group.
As for those villains, I'm making that dungeon. I'll post next sunday night how it went. Right now my group is fighting RoboHilter. His brain went into a robotic body to save him, after one of the party members killed hitler in the past before his suicide. Naturally Red Skull saved him for the symbol. Now the party is regretting that action because in the new time line, Hitler took over with an army of super robots. YAY ROBOTS!
I tried the MURPG some time ago. Personally, it looks a lot better on paper (as the stones allow something that's fundamentally lacking in the d20 system: with enough experience and willpower, you should be able to do anything), but in practice...not so much. There's a monotony in its simplicity. If I want to get my superhero RPG on, I usually play Mutants & Masterminds instead.
As for the store idea, I'm SO importing that into Neverwinter Nights.
Would this be the version with the success chart? (shift X, shift Y, shift Z and Beyonder) The Card based version or the more recent one with the pool stones?
I loved the original; your special dice, the lucky throw technique and shouting "Karma for Red!"
Lady, people aren't chocolates. D'you know what they are mostly? Bastards. Bastard-coated bastards with bastard filling. Dr Cox - Scrubs
Yeah, the original with that blasted chart is what I remember. I don't think we ever actually got a game of it going.
Over-complexity like that makes me wonder just how wussy my players were for refusing to try AD&D 2e...One of them, unwisely enough, actually tried to make sense of THAC0! Poor guy...I swear I heard the synapses go *pop* in his brain...I have one simple rule for that game as a result: "Roll the damn die and I'll tell you if you hit"

Meh, Thac0 was simple enough, but then again my group was winding up with characters where Thac0 = "Don't roll a 1" (critical miss).
I grew up in a house hold of gamers - mostly AD&D (2e) but Dad has the books from 1st ed (Greyhawke!) THAC0 is easy, but yeah "roll, and i'll tell you if you hit" is a pretty normal rule - esp when the GM won't tell you of the monster's AC.
3.0 + changed the rules of how THAC0 works though... grrr
OH, and to the original post: The SC could have paid for it in advance "reserve your copy today" and then just pick it up, they have a copy with her name on it - no one else can take it home! Oh why didn't she think of doing this? I mean really, if it means that much to you - and its that popular - seriously

Or it could be that said store doesn't do pre-orders on DVD/Blu-Rays.

Bah! Wusses. The only way Thac0 is complex is if you are changing equipment and/or stats frequently. Otherwise it's a simple matter of calculate the end bonus, note it down on the sidebar (dear lord you should see some of my character sheets), and then add it to your dice roll.
Now the early Weapon Mastery system, that's where it gets fun.

THAC0 = easy. But like you said, that GORRAM WEAPON MASTERY SYSTEM
Dammit, all this talk makes me really want to get back into d20. Though I doubt I'll go back to D&D though. Read about Spycraft some time ago (think d20 version of James Bond). Looked amazingly fun, only problem was that I found it when I was like 2 months away from graduating from high school and after graduation everyone I gamed with would go on to leave.
We need to come up with an entire d20 version of CustomersSuck! Insanity saving throws! Eardrum endurance checks!
I totally bought Mutants and Masterminds for the superhero type. I'm pretty sure I can easily convert their MURPG character to this. They'll likely love it far better because the advancement is very slow in MURPG. My group are sadily not roleplayers. They want to kill and destroy and become like Superman ASAP.
Which makes Plaidman depress as he loves to Roleplay, but never gets a chance.
In anycase, I volunteer my services for the CS rpg system. I mean, I did write a few short stories based on a Super Hero Clerk versus store criminals. One evil shoplifter would steal using his super skates to escape quickly.
I love role-playing. But you can't go by me. My favorite class is druid/bards, I'm always multiclassing because I feel it helps develop the character. And I'm too busy writing a book right now about a group of Orcs who, led by a witch, renounce the savage, sexist, theocratic, barbarian ways to found a new society based on the discipline of druidic magick. What would I know?

If I were feeling more creative, I'd come up with some stats for the fishslap.
