  • she feels shafted

Guest: (this guest actually spent several minutes telling me all this stuff so I am just going to summarize what she said so I dont bore you). Dave, I am staying here and I have 2 boys, ages 10 and 8. My oldest will be starting fifth grade this year and the younger one 3rd. I think my oldest has ADHD so we need activities that wont bore him. My youngest plays soccer so he is a bit more athletic than his brother. He enjoys video games and action figures. I need to know what activities would be most appropriate for them given what I've told you

Me: I am not really sure but I have a number you can call

Guest: no you know what, Dave.....thanks but no thanks. The last girl I talked to offered to give me a number and only one number at that. I was hoping for a more broad selection. I have to say I feel shafted here. It shouldnt be my responsibility to plan activities for my kids. I call here and everyone has to look something up on line and give me a number. I cant get someone who just knows. I call for restaurant suggestions and I get one restaurant and very little analysis. It's like your company has a list you use. I need service that is tailored to my needs. I am a first timer visitor here and I am not impressed.

    Me: well ma'am I.....

Guest: No Dave, please hear me out.....I am very frustrated with the lack of personalized service. I may be just a customer to you but I feel like I should be more than that. Is there a manager or supervisor I can speak with?

    Me: sure one moment

I will keep you posted. I am not sure what she wants.

"Dave, I am too lazy to be a parent. Do it for me."

Ugh. These sorts of parents disgust me.

it needs repeating in case anyone missed it. what's the odds that "ADHD" is just trying to get some attention/affection from his mother.

Let's not forget "I feel like I should be more than that" (more than a customer). Yeah, sure, how about we adopt you, crown you Queen for Life and Supreme Ruler of the Universe, and put up a statue to you in the lobby?

She sounds as if she doesn't even know her kids!

EDIT: Or even want to know them.

Maybe... will it include a parade and a full refund of all of my rental fees?

There's always something else that will need to be done to make people like that happy.

As for the lack of responsibility for raising her kids... I had to reread that sentence a few times to make sure I read it correctly. There are no words for the total mind-boggle that I experienced.

What, did you PLANT those children in her womb just to make her life miserable!? You did Dave, didn't you!

I suspect this poor woman (like quite a few of the people whom VRS encounters) is under the mistaken impression that her vacation is booked at a destination resort. At such places, there are, in fact, people paid just to plan and organize activities, contests and parties for the guests.

The impression I get from VRS is that his business is only a private beach community with privately owned condos and villas that may be rented out. Places like that on the Texas coast often have the word "resort" in their names to make them sound more exciting.
