Guest: Dave, I am pissed at you. Not at the company but at you. You told me you would refund my amenity card and upon reliance of that information, I purchased one only to find out I cant get reimbursed because I paid my rental fee to the owner. Then, I get a refund check from the owner. That is not what I wanted.

    Me: what do you want?

Guest: I want a refund check from you written on your personal account along with a letter of apology. I sent this check back to the owner. This was not his screw up, it was yours.

Me: I apologized at the time, sir

Guest: not good enough.......I told you what I want. I expect to take responsibility for this. It's not the $145. It's the principal. You lied to me and you should be the one to pay

Me: sir, if you dont take the check from the owner, you get no refund

Guest: I was promised a refund.

    Me: and you got it

Guest: Dave, you are missing the point. I will not accept the money from anyone but you. You need to be taught a lesson here. I want that check in my hand by next week or there will be hell to pay

    Me: sir, I.....

Guest: no you shut your mouth.......if my demands are not met, I will come down there for a face to face meeting with you and believe me, you will not be happy. You screwed up, you pay for it. Youre gonna learn not to fuck with me

    "From your personal account"?!?!?

The scary thing is that there may be a lawyer out there willing to take his money and waste your time and money trying to sue you.
Sorry, my cow died so I don't need your bull

The insanity of demanding that you personally pay some refund aside, what exactly is the guy's problem?

Did he pay for something and then wanted a refund when he cancelled his reservation? If so, then the owner owed the refund if the owner had been paid for the reservation.

Is this amenity card like a VISA or pre-paid credit card on which he was expecting a credit for whatever amount he had paid?

NO judge is going to allow a suit to stand if the plaintiff was given the amount he is suing for to make him "whole", yet refused the payment because he did not agree with the source of the payment.

I'd do it. "Oh, its the principle, sure sure sir, that'll be 1,000 bucks"

          *One day later*

"Sorry sir, he won in court. I need my payment. And it looks like his lawyers need paid too, and that falls under your belt as well."

Dave, do you have any customers who actually like your service? :P

I seriously hear HAL every time I read one of these. "I'm sorry Dave, I can not allow you to do that."

Anyhow, if he turns down the refund (from anybody) I believe that it is no longer owed. At least that is my personal opinion.

I personally would be thrilled to get a check from anybody. Who the heck sends back a check from the owner? The guy has major entitlement issues and a huge amount of time on his hands.

I have read a number of posts from you, and I don't know how you cope. Glad you can vent here.
