I just had an image of these women going to a Denouncing the Evils of the World Adult Learning course at some high school's vocational center.

It's like, in a world where Twilight has basically made people rethink the whole "Harry Potter is the Devil" mentality they need to focus their ire on something else.

I am finding i am lactose intolerant - i have to eat my cheesecake(PIE) still frozen, or it tastes like soured milk....

i like lactose free whole milk - i have tried 2%, 1% and skim - and for my taste they don't cut it - they taste watery to me... and look it too....

I have started using Silk Vanilla Soy - in my Chai - its sweet so compliments the flavor of the Chai, but otherwise - soy is not milk as it does not come from mammary glands, but from a plant (same about coconut - not milk, just milky looking!)

My mom has a full-blown milk allergy. I have it to the extent that if I drink milk or something that's been made with milk, I get very sick to my stomach (which kinda happened to me today. Note to self- No more Jazzman's coconut cocoa tea lattes. Because it doesn't matter if I tell them 'no milk' apparently).

However, my mom also has problems with soy. It makes her arthritis act up really bad. Thus, we've also been seeking alternatives to both. We've tried rice milk, which doesn't have very much flavor to it. We've tried almond milk, which we both love. Almond Breeze makes this absolutely divine chocolate variety. I can go through a carton of that stuff in a week. It's *that* good.

The other thing we've tried is coconut milk. I don't particularly like the taste of the coconut milk itself, but ice cream made with it? Ohmygosh, so good.

i can't handle whole milk too well; it's too thick feeling (weird, i know...).

skim can taste watery sometimes, but that's based on brand, i've generally found.

          goat milk? *cringe*

as for the dvd nutjob, complain pointlessly much? if she wants to spend more, hop on amazon, darlin'; i'm sure you'll find some overpriced ones there.

I only use half & half for coffee; mmmmm delish...

Beats me how drinking low-cal milk "enables" heavy people; enables them to get healthier, maybe.

Oh, and Caill-what?? (no kids here) So would she be happier if you charged $100 for it?

I can't stand homogenized milk. It tastes funny, and homogenizing it makes it so that the fat molecules are small enough to be absorbed through the intestinal wall, which is bad. Then again, the only things that should be drinking cow's milk are animals that want to be as big as cows.

I'm still pissed at the ADA for slandering and vilifying raw milk to force it off the market, though.

Although I have to say I don't care for the flavors. I usually drink the light and extra calcium kinds. Gotta keep those bones strong!
If you want strong bones, forget the calcium. Adults in the US get far more calcium than they need. We're starved for Magnesium, however. Phosphorus and Magnesium are both vital, but we get way too much phosphorus, which leaves us without enough magnesium, and increasing magnesium in the diet has a far greater effect on bone density and strength than calcium. Ideally, we should get about the same amount of each in our diet, but what with our love of sodas, we get way too much phosphorus, which puts everything out of balance.

I was raised on skim milk. I remember one time being at my friend's house and I got dinner there...they had 2% milk which tasted really weird to me! I always had to get chocolate milk at school, too, because even though it was 2%, the chocolate let me handle it ok, and the skim milk they had [IF they had it] was gross. Definitely depends on brand.

Now I'm lactose intolerant and I like drinking either chocolate soy milk [vanilla on rare occasions] or lactose-free milk. Mmmm.

Although I remember one time, I was staying at a friend's house for a while and since all she'd gotten was vanilla soy milk, we had very interesting mac n cheese that day...

Actually, that sensation is part of why I *prefer* whole milk.

We seem to have developed a lactose problem at our house, so we started exploring alternatives a while ago.
Lactaid was mentioned earlier, and, while I'm not LI, I have tried it before, and it does a rather good job at passing for the real thing. It's worth checking out.

Skim milk is not evil. At least, I don't blame it for me myself being evil.

                        1) People drink skim milk to KEEP from getting fat, hardening their arteries, or just because they prefer the consistency.
Same same same, to both above. Raised on whole milk, but the thickness and consistency of it always made me feel sick. I dropped to 2%...and it was ok, but then had to go to 1%...finally to skim, because anything higher just doesn't work for me, consistency wise. Y'all sayin' I'm evil...?

I hate all milk (unless it's in a latte... Though I drink regular coffee black)

I do LOVE Silk...and I think the pumpkin flavor should be out soon...
Oh gods, YES! I drink light Silk chocolate, and use the vanilla in my chai, like another poster mentioned. It goes together SO well. Pumpkin should be coming out soon, can't WAIT!! For that the silk nog AND the mint chocolate flavor. Looking forward to it.

When I was a little kid, my aunt and uncle had a dairy farm We used to spend weekends with them fairly often. One of my fondest memories was going to the milk house while they were milking the cows. There were clear pipes up by the ceiling where you could see the milk moving to the big stainless steel container that cooled it. My uncle and my Dad would always tell us "don't tell your Mom" while they were dipping tin cups into the fresh, cold milk and giving it to me and my sister and brothers. That was the best milk ever - fresh from the cows.
