Given that one of those codes would look like "90210", and the other like "34T M31", I would think that it would be incredibly easy to tell them apart >_<
Pssst, she said area code, not zip code.

And London, ON is a big enough city that you really need to specify "London, England" around here, because it's not uncommon to need to make a trip to London, ON.

Oh, Amerika is just a 1.5 hour drive from Hamburg, Germany.

Let's also not forget Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania. I didn't know about it until I saw it on the news because the locals were complaining that people were upset that they weren't anywhere near New Jersey or the shore.

Okay, I confess: once when I was in South Dakota, I had a brain burp and was briefly amazed at all the SD plates. It was just for an ever so brief moment, though, and I kept my thoughts in my head.

Yeah their in Texas, because with all of the Colorado cars around they must NOT be in Colorado.
Meh, in southern Tennessee, I see a lot of Georgia plates.

              Close enough

I remember reading that the author of "For Better or for Worse" once used this very thing to mess her armchair critics -- She sent a Canadian character to the U of London, and later talked about him preparing to drive there. The next day, the characters clarified that she was talking about London, ON (remember, these things are written weeks in advance). Exactly as she expected, she soon received TONS of mails from people who assumed that she meant England -- they sent maps, questions about her sanity and/or intelligence, the whole gamut. Naturally, she also got a bunch from actual Canadians giving her a thumbs-up for the prank ^_^ She and her office crew got a huge laugh out of all of the nastygrams and bad snail/emails from people who really didn't know what they were talking about.

              Such wonderful pwnage.

You can also go to Moscow in the U.S.
You can go to Glencoe, Derry, Florida, San Antonio, Regina, Las Vegas, and Madrid without ever leaving New Mexico.

I don't know. Given that I swear sometimes fully half the cars I see here are either Colorado or Texas.... Especially right now with the Balloon Fiesta Traffic Follies going on.

And you know some of them think they've left the US, too.

I must confess, after driving that 20 foot truck from Idaho to California (in February, no less, through a blizzard! I r smurt, hu?) I was really whacked out. We drove for 19 hours (or something like that, hell I'm not really sure to be honest) and I remember at one point turning to our daughter and saying, "Wow, there sure are a lot of California plates around here!" She just looked at me funny, and I quickly realized I am an idiot and started laughing.

Pagan, I <3 your avatar, btw! She's probably my favorite character on that show, and not just because of that outfit, either!

Mom's done that a few times. She went to her father's home in Nova Scotia, and mentioned to my sister "Man there are a lot of Nova Scotian cars in this parking lot. (Sydney Nova Scotia mall ) "

I've gotten used to looking carefully when it comes to city names...what throws me off are country abbreviations. Especially European ones.

DE for Germany...oh, Deutschland. I get it. But Switzerland is CH? Fark you guys...

I would have thought SC would have worked for the swiss, but maybe they knew, even then, what that abbreviation would come to mean in the future...

Lol, how bout one of the other 7 Paris' in the USA? Everyone uses Texas.
                              Paris, Arkansas
                              Paris, Illinois

                              Paris, Missouri
                              Paris, Tennessee
                              Paris, Virginia
There's a Paris, Idaho as well.

As for the geographically-challenged customer, my aunt lives in Cour d'Alene, Idaho. She was trying to drive to Twin Falls, Idaho. She ended up in Seattle. Didn't realize she was in Washington until she saw the "Welcome to Seattle" signs.

I think CZ is Czech Republic, after they and Slovakia split up.
With three or four official languages, it isn't surprising the Swiss (or UN) went with the Latin abbreviation . Maybe SC is reserved for Scotland?
