JI have little patience for screaming fangirls, and people who don't understand the concept of STOP TALKING DURING THE GD MOVIE, and midnight showings are ripe for this kind of behavior.
I do have to say that my experience has been the opposite. I was in a 12:01 showing last night, in one of the two better screens at the theater. My friends and I were there at 8:30 and weren't the first ones LOL. Got tickets several weeks ago, we went early for the experience. Lots of die-hard fans, people dressed up (although my friend and I had the best costumes by far) and absolutely no talking during the movie.

Same as on Tuesday night when I got to see a preview - the only talking/noise was what was appropriate for the movie.

I do feel bad for everyone working last night because of the amount of people, but everyone that I saw attending was well-behaved, not crazy but excited and therefore in a great mood. I have to give major props to the concession stand who let us split a large popcorn into a smaller box so my friend w/dairy issues could have hers w/o the butter (yes, it's fake. yes, it gives her problems to have anyway) and the rest of us could have the yummy fattening goodness.

eta- just called the theater and spoke to a manager. You could have probably knocked her over with a Snitch she was so thrilled someone called to say something good. I backed it up with an email to Corporate (at her suggestion).

Don't try to restore my faith in humanity, Rey. The letdown is too much to bear

But seriously, it's good to hear that you had a good experience too!

If it didn't look like he was going to stick his wand up his nose, I might have asked what they were doing with the Snape part of the HUGE promotional displays they had. But I didn't, so I didn't have any ulterior motives.....this time. We'll see in July!

Only done the midnight-showing thing with three movies, but damned if I can remember what one of them was. I went to see Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (and, like any hoopy frood, I had my towel with me), the aforementioned can't-remember-it, and The Dark Knight.

Fortunately, TDK was fairly quiet once the movie got going, with none of the FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST SHUT YOUR FUCKING MOUTH talkers.

Meh, because of my work schedule, I don't get to go to midnight showings. Ever. They're always on Fridays at 12:01, and I'm always at work. No big deal to me...it's the exact same movie a few days later, and I've already read the books so I know what happens. Though the idea of dressing up for a midnight release would be fun.

To further get into the discussion about the laziness and stupidity of customers, I bet I got one that nobody can top....
1 of our ushers once found a tiny little courtesy cup filled with urine because the customer was too fucking lazy to get up and go to the bathroom, and all because they didn't wanna miss their movie! You'd think they would at least have the decency to throw it away and.... Oh yeah I forgot, they're customers! Why throw it away when the ushers get paid to do it?! Jerks!

This was the only midnight showing that I have been to and I had a rather good time. We paid the extra for IMAX and it was totally worth it, partly because they only had one IMAX screen that night and it sold out early last week so the only people there were the type of people who actually planned ahead. There was lots of fun, including duels, snitch chaseing (I really don't think the poor girl expected that when she decided to make her costume but was a good sport and gave us a few rounds), and trivia.

After the initial cheer when the movie started everyone was silent. Not only was there no talking but no drink slurping, no digging through popcorn, nothing except reactions to some of the scenes. It was fantastic.

Many years ago, I applied for a job at an area movie theater. I think I'm glad I didn't get it now. As for midnight movie showings, I don't think I've ever been to one. Also, while I am admittedly a horrible procrastinator, I don't blame others for it. If I miss out on something because I waited till the last minute, it's my own darn fault and I accept the consequences.

I used to work in a movie theater, but as far as I can recall, we never had any midnight showings at my theater. I know this because, being the closing box office cashier, it was my task to change the signs for the new show times. (Our theater didn't have an electronic marquee at the time, because the sun was always glaring off it.)

Then again, I might not have encountered too many problems at the theater if we had done any midnight shows, given how a lot of SCs seem to try to avoid me.

My SCA group were planning to go in costumes to the premiere, but as I have to get up before the crack of dawn to go to my office job, I couldn't go. Sorry, driving without falling asleep behind the wheel is more important than a costume party.

The last Star Wars movie was "Return of the Jedi".

There were only 3 Star Wars movies, 3 Indiana Jones movies, and 1 Highlander movie.

Anyone who tells me different gets the "stare of DOOM".

I agree with you on Indy, but Sith was actually pretty good. Campy moments, sure, but definitely better than the other two.

I don't think I could stay awake during a midnight opening of a movie, no matter how excited I was for a movie. Since leaving the pub, as soon as 1am hits, I am unconcious (not tonight though due to me being ill)

My friends and I did attend a preview of The Matrix Reloaded. It was an evening showing (8pm I think) and it was a couple of weeks before it was officially released. We were first in line, and we waited at the screen doors for three and a half hours.

Boy we were bitter when we came out that movie.

The movie that is a must-see for me is Tron: Legacy.

I'll go see Harry Potter.....sometime....probably. Might wait until it comes out on DVD.
