  • The Lengths People Go To Coz You Said NO - epic

OK guys its been a while and i feel like posting this now, it is long so please be aware of this fact!

I work for the government in a caretaker/attendant/security role (i wont say what i do exactly as very few people do this sort of thing)
In July this year i was in work on a lovely sunny Saturday morning, i had just buttered my toast and was sitting down watching the sun filter through the trees opposite me whilst i had my morning nibble. I notice a woman (small grey hair with an old lady trolly bag in tow) approaching the entrance and she hasent looked once at the pay hatch i am manning. As she walks straight in i open the door and call to her inform her that entry is not free and she needs to pay myself. She argues that she wants to pay afterwards, to which i countered that the rules are payment on entry and as such payment is needed before entry. After a few round of this she sticks her nose in the air goes "hmmmmmmph" and pushes her way into the gate. (which should have been locked until a release switch was hit...ovious another malfunction)

I walk to the gate and again call after her, to which i get a tirade of abuse and and lots of How dare you question me.....at this point she had placed her trolly bag on the floor next to her so she can stick her hand on her hips while shes screaching at me. I must admit it that it annoyed me that she was talking down to me like a toddler whos been caught in the act of doing something naughty, so at that point i took the 3 strides to close the distance between us, picked up her trolly bag and walked outside the gate and put it on the floor, she came rushing past me to her bag and at that point i noticed what had caused the problem with the gates lock and fixed it (took about 3 seconds) then walked back into the pay kiosk locking the door behind me.

The woman tryed to get back through the gate but as the lock was working her attempts failed, at which point she came to the hatch and started berating me for not being a human being and how i was going to regret this and other insults mixed in, this went on for around 5 minutes according to both her statement and my guess of how long it took.

A little while later my supervisor called round, he had heard of someone that i had beaten up an old lady and dragged her out of the place, to which i replyed nope got verbally abused by someone, but whats new....to which he was happy and on his way he went.

5 days later a cop car pulls up outside my work and the officer asks to be let in, at which point he arrests me because in his words "you went a little over the top and outside of bounds the other day)

I get to the station 30 miles away and request my solicitor, who took ages to get there. Before i have said anything to the officer about the matter they offer my solicitor "tell him to accept a caution and we can all go home" to which my solicitor rightly and politely told him to stick it.

    End of part 1

Wait a minute....Am I reading this right? She had you arrested because you tried to make her pay? And ejected her when she refused?!

We, tell us the rest of the saga when you can.
I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!

      Part 2

At this time my Wife was home waiting for me to come home as we were set to have a meeting with social services about our disabled son around an hour after i was arrested. So my wife had to deal with that on her own upset with the news i had been arrested, which at the time she thought i was arrested for something i did with my second job as i am also a bouncer in the evenings.

So we wnt into interview and he goes through the womans statement, aparantly she begged me for free entry and when she tryed gaining entry after she was refused i aparantly grabbed hold of her and threw her out like a nightclub bouncer would, then she stood there asking why and begging for entry for 5 minutes afterwards (thats cutting it short but you dont want to know all the Bullcrud she spouted)

After the "incident" she went into a local shop and broke down crying about the brute of a man who beat her up and threw her physically out onto the street. Also she went to the doctor 2 days later on monday and managed to get a doctors statement saying she had complained of a sore back........suprise a elderly lady with a bad back....im 30 and i have one from years of manual labour and so forth.....

I gave my account and was bailed to come back around 10 weeks later.

I turn up my solicitor meets me there and he expects the whole thing to be dropped as its a farce, its her word against mine and there is no evidence in the case and no witnesses (people were around but suprise no one witnessed anything either way). We get inside im stuck into a holding cell while my solicitor speaks to the desk Sgt and the officer in charge of the case, they again offered him get your client to accept a caution and we can all go home and pretend nothing happened, to which he again told him no way would i ever consider accepting a caution over something that never happened.

My solicitor came back to me and told me there was going to be a second interview...which was just a chance for me to confess as i was going to be charged with assault if i denied it or not. Of course we went to interview and aparantly they had gone to the woman and gave her chance to withdraw her statement but she insisted it was a true statement and she wanted me charged.

So i was charged, to which i got a bit upset, they explained to me i should have just taken the caution as it isnt admitting guilt its just a cop out to save time and looks good in figures..........

Had i accepted a caution i would have lost my day job and my SIA license which allows me to work as a doorman.....plus it IS a criminal conviction you have to declare to other emplyers etc.....so no way in hell was i ever going to accept one, espescially for something which is some womans work of fiction

      End part 2

The "cop" arrested you for doing your job?? I can understand him coming to question you (more than likely the SC told lies) but to arrest you..I say there are two SCs in this story.

Part 3, sorry but lets me get a break between typing.

So at this point im totally in shock and not very pleased to the point the desk Sgt threatens to keep me in a cell until i calm down and is refusing to let me leave custody, and maybe i want to see the doctor to discuss my issues......yeah right im in shock and totally pissed off

In the end they get me a cuppa leave me in a supervised side room until i am calm ish, then have an officer follow me 30 miles home to ensure my well being...they wanted to take me home and have me leave my car there but that was never going to happen.

I get home, the officer follows me to my door and speaks to me and my wife with my 2 kids there ready for bed......and tells my mrs she can call the police for help should i get "upset" again and after asking if im ok now and telling me hes only doing his job about 50 times he gets lost.

1st Court appearance in magistrates court...im told to get there for 9am so my union provides a solicitor to represent me and my supervisor gives me a lift to court in a work van. My solicitor has gone through the case with me and gone to the CPS and said, its such a weak case and we will fight it every step...why dont you save time and have the charges dropped, save everyone money and time. He said the reply he got was "its got this far lets see how it goes"

I got called in pleaded noy guilty and got a date set for the trial.

I forgot to mention in this time she had made a complaint to my employers and they had interviewed me under the basis that i had seriously assaulted a member of the public, but they would not be taking action while the criminal case was going on...though they did send me booklets outlining that for gross misconduct (which assault would fall into) instant dismissal was recommended, and in a accompanying letter they made it clear that if i was found guilty i would be the subject of the recommended actions........yeah way to support me guys.

I get to the second court appearance again via my supervisor and the works van, for the hearing. This time my Union has sent a barrister and he runs through things with me including photos of the site, i have had a hour long conversation with him over the phone a few days earlier as i couldent leave my disabled son to go meet him in his office 3 hours away...

We get in there i get sat in a dock with a very very hard seat....so bad that my ass is numb after 5 minutes and i end up in there for around 3 hours with breaks and standing time. They give the charges and ask again what plea i make, again told not guilty.....on the trial goes

The woman comes in with her husband...a man i recognised as he had come to the window at work a few weeks back and just stood there sneering at me...i put it down to some doped up weirdo at the time, but it not made sense...shes playing the frail old woman routine....i can hardly stand and am frail act.

She gets up starts describing me as a short haired brute (had been advised to let my hair grow a bit from my No #1 cut normal) to look more respectable, as they were setting it up as a little frail woman against a skin headed young bouncer...which do you believe setting)

Aparantly with my size i should have let her be and demanded payment on exit as she oviously couldent escape from a brute of my size .... yeah think about that, would still have been in court on simular charges in this case...

Sh admitted she never once offered payment or made any move to offer payment.....but get this...this is the winning part here........ After she refused payment and walked in anyway.....i charged her down grabbed one arm in one hand, her other arm in my other hand, picked up her trolly bag and then used a free arm to open the spring loaded gate..............count the arms there people!!!!

When she was questioned about this she started ranting at the barrister and also at the magistrates a bit......then suddenly she was too ill to continue and i was a big evil brute who assaulted her (her own words) and should not be allowed to get away with it.

After she went out, 2 other witnesses came up and said they had bumped into the woman after she had left and she was upset and gave her the same sob story.

Then it was my turn, i answered all the questions they asked, they tryed saying no locks existed on the gate at the time and they were added after the incident...i have been there 10 years now and they were installed before i took the job, they also tryed argusing that the gate was not spring loaded but was free swinging..again was there before i was.

In the end the whole thing was a farce with daft questions.

The magistrates took over an hour to diliberate despite the ovious physical imposabilities and found me not guilty just before christmas............... whole saga had lasted 5 months!

F**king c**t. What a horrible, horrible woman. Is it possible to see if she has a record of this behavior?

BTW, if she doesn't pay, she's not a customer.

                    Four arms...
Could you sue the woman for defamation or something like that? I'm glad you were found not guilty, but I had hoped for a bit more humiliation for the woman .

I'm just...... but so very glad that someone eventually saw sense. What a horrible ordeal though - can you now sue for wrongful arrest, trauma etc?

I actually bumped into this woman when i went to the dentist last week.....she was the appointment before me.

She came into the waiting area...looked at me once walked into the office and slammed the door behind her....she then came out and fled the building.

She had a younger man, maybe her son waiting for her who gathered her coat and stuff and followed her out slowely.

Im still waiting to be arrested for throwing her out of the dentist

Did the lady (and I use the term loosely) get photographic evidence of her injuries? If you were so rough with her, it ought to have left bruises.
