Either keep it stored at your hotel, or give it to police. I think that the only legal obligation you have to keep anything, is if the woman had been a roommate or something and left everything behind; then you would have to keep it for a full 30 days. After that you could do whatever you wanted with it.
Eh, one day I'll have something useful here. Until then, have a cookie or two.

I think in this case you should give the stuff to the police, so they can be responsible for it; you don't want this to come back and bite you, especially if the hotel tries to throw you under the bus for it.

Let me extend that: I recommend that ANY medical device that gets left behind get sent to the police for safekeeping. Medical devices can be vital, even ones that look unimportant. They might also require hazardous-material handling. So .. yeah. Let the cops handle it, they're either trained to do so, or can call in people who are.

It also means that records are kept of what gets turned in, by whom and when. So you're off the hook for 'losing' things if some co-worker decides to take something, give it to the wrong person, or leave it out in the rain.

        2. If you're consistently getting results you don't want, change what you do.
        3. Deal with the situation you have now, however it occurred.
        4. Accept the consequences of your decisions.

Is it wrong if I kinda favor Selling the scooter after 30 days to recoup the losses on the unpaid nights? not that I don't feel sympathy for this woman, as she likely has some psychological issues.

I totally agree with handing the scooter over to the police. They drove her out of there, and if she comes back in two months and says "what happened to my scooter?" she can't sue the hotel. (I know she didn't pay her bill, but you'd be amazed at the lawsuits people manage to win).

I would definitely contact the initial police, the one who took her away. See why they didn't take the scooter, if they took the lady and she used a scooter. Why?

After a couple of days, bundle her clothes back in the suitcases and put them someplace. You must have a policy at your hotel about items left behind.
