  • Black Friday Debriefing Thread 2011

Okay, so what ungodly hour do you have to be into work, what are you doing at work, how bad did the SCs get this year, yada yada.

I work 6 pm to 4 am tomorrow. A ten-hour shift. But once we open I sit outside and do TV and furniture carryouts for people, so I'm away from all the madness. Which means I most likely will have no juicy stories until Saturday morning.

I have Friday off. Having said that, I'm going to wish all of you who ARE working the best of luck. Now I'm going to run and hide, before those of you who are working start throwing things at me. Please don't hate me!

I'm working 10am-6:30pm. That being said I work in an insurance call center so I'm not expecting horror until Monday.

I'll be going into work here shortly for my first time working Thanksgiving, then I have to be up at some crazy hour until 10 or so.
Eh, one day I'll have something useful here. Until then, have a cookie or two.

(YAY I was waiting for this thread!)

I am working today, but miraculously, I have Black Friday off. That said, I'm going to the mall tomorrow because I promised I would bring Best Friend homemade chocolate chip cookies.

Not in retail, but I'm working on Black Friday. Not that I anticipate a lot of business.

I'm making up for being gone from work yesterday (Thanksgiving Eve), because I had to go to the DMV to transfer my car title & get my license renewed... and then spent the rest of the day trying to replace my license plate, because one of the screws holding my front plate on was stripped AND bent. Ended up getting a hacksaw to cut the damn thing off.

I'll be going in at 11:30pm tonight at the Big Yellow Price Tag. Our customers waiting outside will be entertained with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 on a massive big screen. We're only store in our area doing that. Per usual, I'll be parking in the back behind the store.

I'm off today and hiding out at home. Tomorrow I'm working noon-8, since our big sale started today I'm sure most of the good stuff (what little there is) will be long gone and just an angry mob will be left to deal with.
I would have a nice day, but I have other things to do.

I work 11:30 AM to 8 PM both Friday and Saturday, and have Sunday off. As some others have posted here, I don't anticipate much craziness, but in my job you never really know what to expect. Also, I wonder if I should leave my house an hour early just to make sure the traffic doesn't make me late...

I don't work in a business that is affected by BF madness. In fact it's somewhat slow that day because we are on the opposite end of town from the "big box" stores, and mall.

For those of you in retail, you have my thoughts, but you won't see me. No way in hell I'd even consider doing my shopping on BF. I'll not even take the main roads in town tomorrow. Back roads all the way.

I'm working tomorrow 9-5:30 and sat 12-6, and while my store opens at 7 tomorrow, we have one special promo, and as we only sell women's clothing, I don't see it being particularly busy tomorrow, esp that early. My guess is our customers will swing by our mall after they hit the big box stores.

While I don't work retail and I live in Canada where we don't have Black Friday (yet). For those of you who are working, I wish you all the best, no SC's, lots of cookies and (For after work, of course!)

                            Best of luck!

I work tomorrow 5am-2pm. My mother works at 4:30, though, so I'll be slipping in with the 4:30am crowd of employees And the fact we had customers actually waiting for the store to open at 5am last year sort of scares me for this year Thankfully, I get the weekend off - My first full weekend since I went on vacation in JUNE

If every cashier in the world went on strike, retail would come to a screeching halt, even if for a couple hours.
