Wanna know what's really stupid? Shoplifting.

On Shop With a Cop night, when there are several police uniformed police officers from the next town over, along with some Junior Explorers, whoever they are, in the store assisting several of the region's underprivileged children in shopping for Christmas gifts for their families.

I mean really, how less than full in the brains department must one be to think that is a good idea? Wouldn't a police presence be enough of a deterrent to shoplifting? Even if they weren't technically on duty?

The shoplifter was a guy we'd been hoping to catch because he hit us several times this holiday shopping season. He was in here Monday and the apparel people were trying to locate him before he could gank a jacket. He was apparently successful in that theft, so he decided to push his luck further tonight.

Sounds like natural selection at work right there

Hey, he's out of your store's hair for Christmas, right? What a gift!

So, what exactly did he try to steal, and how many cops dogpiled on him while the children watched in amusement?

I'm sure a few kids learned the "shoplifting is stupid" lesson just from watching that. So hey, Stupid Shoplifter, your sacrifice "ain't been in vain for nuthin'"!

Once he gets bail, he will need to go rob a donut store to pay for his lawyer.

            1. Don't know.

            2. None as far as I know. It was the LP guy (this would've been his first bust, as far as I know) and a manager making the stop. But still, shouldn't the sight of a cop in uniform be enough to dissuade you?

Aww, the shop with a cop program is so adorable!

And yeah, you would think it would make people think twice, right? But then, people seem to get stupid around the police.

Sounds like the two guys who tried to rob a bar during a local biker club meeting.

There's pictures of the event on the local newsrag website, but they would give away where I work. -__-

And just to show that stupidity is a truly global phenomena let me share a story from the local news here :

Two suspected thieves were arrested after they walked into a pub in south London where police were holding their Christmas party

This one happened last summer at our credit union. The branch is located on the second floor of a state government building (one named for one of our few living ex-governors who wasn't indicted). Of course, there are state police all over. Guess what: You're right! Some fool robbed that credit union. Needless to say, he didn't get far.
