I'd tell her that of course you can donate it to her, but first you need a reciprocal donation of $1,400. Plus shipping.
I was thinking something similar. I would reply "sure you can have it for free but it needs to be packed carefully. It will be $1400 for packing materials."

What's sad is that some 15-year-olds I've seen on the net have told me when I call them out on their spelling that "I don't care, it's for school and I'm not at school"

Usually I then shut them up by trapping them in their own logic and pointing out that they will never get a job if they use "netspeak" instead of that new-fangled "school speak"

        So. Much. Win!

Okay, as for Princess Entitlement, she clearly is not afraid to ask for what she wants and is not afraid of rejection. I suggest she get a job selling vacuum cleaners door to door. She'll go far. No writing involved, and she's clearly got the metaphorical testes for the job. She should be able to earn enough to buy her fursuit in no time.

I don't recommend that she wear it on the job though.

The only thing I'd want to donate to her is a dictionary. Or perhaps a basic grammar book. At 15 she should definitely be better at spelling and writing than that.

Before anybody starts making comments about furries, please DO recall that I am one too. Just because some of my customers are crazy doesn't mean that's the norm.

^Wow, that custy has some serious balls. People really, really don't understand what things are worth, especially when it comes to hand crafting. And I'm not gonna trash on furries, one of my best friends is one!

When she gets that job, do you think she will give me a vacuum cleaner for free?

                          ...

And like a lot of people of all ages, I'll bet she hasn't a clue about the amount of work involved in making a fursuit.

I'd cut her just enough slack to write a polite refusal and also give a thumbnail description of the amount of time and work you put into one of these and what it normally sells for. Never lose an opportunity to educate ...
I think it's very safe to assume that most folks have no inkling at all at the time and effort required to make a fursuit; I consider myself at least half-way intelligent but until I started reading these forums I didn't even realize that there was a regular industry for them, nevermind the costs involved.

Pixilated has a good idea in responding, because this just seems like your average teenager- not someone looking to scam or screw you - and who might not have thought things all the way through.

If it took me TEN MINUTES that still would not make it okay for them to want it for free. It's my work, and my time, and how would it NOT screw me to give it away and get nothing in return?

Is it a sad comment on how I feel about humanity right now that I totally expect Sparks to get an angry email from this child's* parents about "how dare you ... bargle bargle bargle"?

*I don't care that she is 15 - she writes and acts like a child.

Nah, she's probably certain her parents will disown her for finding out she's furry, and had planned on hiding the suit under her bed if she got it, so she'll never mention it to them. (I run into this a lot. Melodramatic teenagers treating being furry like it was some huge deal, and they need to be "in the closet" or "come out" or whatever about it.)
