Please tell me I am not the only one whose head is spinning from all this technojargon!
Don't worry-you're not the only one. What is a root kit, and why does Sony have one?

And now I'm wondering how many female gamers are on the forums.

Between my husband and me, we have two consoles and about a double handful of games for them, and they're all mine. Hubby prefers computer-run strategy games (Starcraft, anyone?). I bought my Dreamcast back when I was still single so I could play Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2, since I was too broke to buy a GameCube (though that's still on my wishlist). About a year after we got married, Hubby's coworker was selling his nicely-working PS2 for $50 with two controllers and a memory card since it was wasting all his homework time. So I scored that, spent about $10 (I think) on a PSX memory card, and bought a few games used. Yay Movie Trading Company and EB Games.

I've been called a trophy wife (by a handful of 16-year-olds) because I'm a gamer.

I am a Girl Gamer and have been since Pong back in the '70's.

I want a XBOX 360 and a PS3- couldn't care less about the Wii but I'll probably wind up with one as my MOM is a Nintendo freak.

Currently I've got PS2, Game Cube and XBOX. Sadly, my XBOX is dead and has been for awhile. *sigh* My fave system to...

I REFUSE to buy the new systems when they first come out though. My thought is wait for a price drop and let everyone else work through the bugs! Plus, after they're out awhile there are more games to choose from!

I used to love game systems, but I quickly got tired of them coming out with new ones that were not backward compatible with the old games. I went thru this with the NES, and then the SNES.

I do all my gaming on my computer now. You can usually upgrade a computer without having to buy a whole new system, and in most cases, your old games will still work. I did have some problems with my old DOS-based games once I upgraded to XP, but eventually I did find out ways to get those to work as well.

I am only some-what of a gamer anymore- I too, got tired of too many systems coming out too fast and not being backwards compatible. I rarely have time to play games anymore- but when I do I have the following systems to keep me occupied-
My good old NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, GameCube, Playstation, Sega Genesis, Sega Game Gear and GameBoy Advance SP. NES and Genesis were X-mas presents when I was a kid...The rest were purchased with X-mas money, or hard earned cash later in life. And most were purchased long after their original release. I just can't keep up with the cost of the games/systems- and between working, horseback riding, and maintaining any social life at all...well... I can't get obsessed on games for very long. I still want a PS2 though- there are some great games that I love on that system- plus it will play my PS1 games Weee! I love the new backwards compatibility!

I miss the good old days when I'd sit with my buddies and play NES for HOURS...remember back in the day when very few games had a "save" function?
I will not shove “it” up my backside. I do not know what “it” is, but in my many years on this earth I have figured out that that particular port hole is best reserved for emergency exit only. -GK

I play too, but I haven't had much time lately between more than full time job, 9 credit hours worth of class, the horses (all 12 or so of them, 3 more on the way in the spring....anyone wanna buy a paint?).
Between my husband and I, we have an original NES, an N64, 2 GBA SPs, an original GB, a PS2, a PSP, an XBox, and a 360.
He's eyeballing the PS3 when it comes out.....

Im a starcraft-style girl gamer, playing heroes of might and magic 4 expansions at the moment.
I also bought a PS2 specifically to play Guitar Hero

I'm an old school gamer....the sort that sits around the living room with friends and paper and dice. But I really do enjoy computer games, too, though I haven't done any of either since my daughter was born.

I have two Dreamcasts--the one my grandfather bought me back in the day was deciding to not work, so I picked another one up off ebay for $20. Voila, the old one started working again after being shipped cross-country a second time So I have one sitting in the corner that I'm not sure what I want to do with....I could load Linux on it but I'd then need the keyboard and a way for the thing to make use of my router.

I was running a Ghostbusters RPG group for awhile, now that's mainly online (and the online sessions get even weirder than the tabletop games were...I didn't know that was possible). Could be that players know that the GM/other players can't hit them with dice if they try something ridiculous (An Eva showing up in the middle of Times Square as one of the more recent examples). I am going to try to rework the Ghostbusters D6 system to be more compatible with D20.

We played Boot Hill, which is obsure and unusual enough. And all but one of my players were chicks. Which blew EVERYONE'S mind.

I'm with Kinkoid -- I'm of the D&D and Shadowrun gamer type. I do, however, play World of Warcraft and it's the ONLY video / computer game I will ever play. I managed to go 24 years without needing video games, I don't need to start now.

I used to be that way until between jobs and family I no longer had that kind of time to burn. I've returned to the days of board games (though these tend to be more intelligent than, say, monopoly... anyone recognize my avatar?).
