Yes, these are hard times for everyone.

    Son of a bitch....

When dealing with those fools, I'm *so* tempted to say something like "if you really want the product, open your wallet and buy it, you cheap fuck" Blunt, and to the point, it gets the job done. Sorry, but I'm just so tired of hearing that as an excuse for everything.

I work in the financial services industry (not a bank, but a brokerage), and some of the people I have to deal with...just piss me off. They get annoyed and/or upset when we won't bend over backwards for them and cut them a deal. Sorry, but we have to make money too. If the company doesn't get paid, *I* don't get paid. Don't like it? Bugger off then

Also porn, you forgot the porn industry. >.>
I thought that would be part of the entertainment industry.

And although porn might be having a hard time, prostitution is doing fine.

Don't forget tech support. I (and my fellow tech support brethren) may deal with a crapton of PEBCAKS and ID10Ts but it's recession proof considering that money is no object when you need your computer fixed! SC's getting pwned hard is such sweet music to my ears !

I'm almost a bit sad I don't work in either industry and can't use that excuse.

If he's so concerned about not spending so much "in this economy" then he shouldn't have gone out to buy games in the first place. Makes sesnse to you? It does me.

Well, let's do some clarifying here, as I tuck MadMike in the corner and have Protege give him a good mouth washing.....

                  Ahem..

See, we all may think that these morons just waltz into stores with the little proverbial light bulbs above their heads (well, considering they're idiots, they are flickering light bulbs, like the kind of lights you see at shady motels that don't even get HBO and Skinemax), but in reality, we should know better. Morons like these cannot think for themselves. They go online or read trash-mags, reading advice to consumers about "haggling" and "negotiating" and this huge urban legend that's been going around for a while that ALL businesses are hurting "So" much that haggling and negotiating or inventing your own price is SURE to work, because they WANT your business!

We need to cut off the resources. Let's find everyone who writes those stupid advice blogs/columns about haggling and demanding discounts, choke them with tampon strings braided like daisy chains, and then whack them with leather whips while we knock some smarts into them.

I'm beginning to believe there was a CNN or other news source report that, in this economy, you should be able to haggle and receive discounts wherever you shop. I'm going to do some research and I bet I'll find some source for the "in this economy" SCs.

I'm in the construction industry, and I'm sick to death of these clowns. Our overhead hasn't gotten any cheaper. No one is reducing our bills because of "the economy." So, why should we give the SC's a break? I mean, seriously, if you can afford to renovate your SECOND home, don't cry to me about the economy. I'm still struggling to afford my FIRST home...and it's gonna be about half the size of your weekend house!

Well...I found 4,350 hits on a Google when I searched "Shopping, 'in this economy', haggle".

I posted links to a few of the articles in the "check it out" section.

jjlibb - I knew it also had to be featured on one of the big news networks. Not surprised it was Fox News...such a stellar institution. Fair and Balanced my ass!

I was talking to a comic book shop owner who was telling me when she did the research to open her shop, she found that the average hobby shop could expect a 10% return which is why she didn't give subscriber discounts. Giving someone a 20% discount could be what kills your shop, not refusing his request. Guys was a dork even without the math, though.

I've read that since the election of Obama, that guns and ammo sales are WAY up.
That's because he is anti first amendment. People are buying them now so that they will be grandfathered in when they start banning certain types of guns. I don't own any guns and have even thought about buying one because of this. It's the old thing of it being better have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
