I think the story was that two thugs approached a group at a BestBuy at 3 AM and attempted to rob them. One person was shot for his troubles.

Okay, this story wins for the stupidest person camping out for a PS3....

Nine Months Pregnant, In Line For PlayStation

According to the AP there is a pregnant woman in line at a Mount Laurel, New Jersey Circuit City. She's also having contractions. She's also staying in line until she gets a PlayStation 3. Who can compete with nutjobs like this?

Nine months pregnant, Julie Mosley said she tried to ignore her contractions for the chance to score machines for her family, her daughter's father and her younger brother.

Lol, I'll have to call up Mt. Laurel from the store phone today and make fun of them.

There was a shooting today re: PS3 near my neck of the woods.

To be honest, I'm suprised I haven't heard more of these things happening with system launches for high priced game consoles. I remember driving by my local Target late at night before the XBox 360 launch (I pre-ordered mine, thank goodness) and saw a small group of teens, playing their PSPs, watching movies on portable DVD players, and thought it was a recipe for disaster.

We had eight systems. There were eight or so people in tents outside. The Media got here this morning, and they were all ready for a "story."

We opened at eight. The gamers filed in, in an orderly line. The freezing weather took all fight out of them, I guess. They had tickets, got their systems, and filed out. The media guys looked so disappointed. I felt a lot more sorry for them than the gamers who slept outside.

I've been looking through the photos of the people waiting in line for the PS3.

I'm thinking it seems to be a mix of little gangsta wannabes and guys who are really into gaming because they will never have a date.

This does not reflect on the gamers on this site, or any other. Before I had kids (and had free time) my husband and I used to play a lot.

But the type of person willing to sit outside for days for the privilege of spending $600, is, well, as they say down South, the child's not right.

The PS3 is becoming the SUV of gaming. YOu don't use most fo the features, don't need it, it might hardyl get used, and you'll hand a death threat to anyone who scratches it, but it was worth the money to impress you gangsta wannabe friends. I want one honestly, but not now, when the price drops.

As another post stated, "I don't understand this," because I don't either. And it seems all the people on this board even have the brains to wait for a PS3 (with the exception of pre-orders). It's simply amazing that people are willing to put their lives on hold to wait for a video game system. I like video games myself, I own a PS2 and a PSP (I'm not an XBox person) and a soon to be kickarse gaming computer (as soon as I get all the parts for it!!!). I'd like to own a Wii, moreso than a PS3 . . . just 'cause it has better games.

Isn't the Wii suppose to be backwards compatible as well?

Luckily, Sears didn't get any PS3's and won't get any until next month.

People were camping at the Best Buy here, too. I don't understand the point. When Sega Dreamcast came out, I reserved it because I love Sega and it was only $199! People were camping out, but I went late in the day that it came out, after I got off work, and handed them my ticket, and got my DC. No waiting in line for me!

And on that note, reporting in from North Carolina, a student at UNC-Wilmington was walking home after having purchased two PS3's. He was jumped by a group of four men, beaten, and had his PS3's stolen. Police are thinking he was followed back to campus after having waited in line for several hours at a nearby Wal-Mart.

This is why I wouldn't dare WALK home with one of the things, I tossed mine in my buddy's car and threw a sheet over it for concealment. Here are some pics of my adventure.

(the police came by twice because the manager at this wal-mart thought some of the guys camping were drinking alcohol, not sure if this was true.)

There was also a 7 year old girl camping with her parents. At least she got to sleep in the van. There was some confusion this morning when my buddy lost his system because he left his place in line to go sleep in his car. This would've been ok, except he left just before they handed out tickets and someone else snagged his. I got mine thought.

At the game store where I work we had a huge sign posted that said "PS3 SOLD OUT" and shockingly most customers actually read it! There was not a single soul at my door when I opened this morning, which was nice because it sucked ass to work 8 hours after spending all night waiting for one of these things.

Yesterday on Ebay I saw that some clownshoe had driven the bid for one PS3 to $15,000.00.

Crud like that makes me glad im a PC only gamer...you can get emulators for most console systems to play on your good ole PC....

And when u build and modify your own custom system...not many games are beyond your spec reach...

You know a console launch is huge when even Vegeta gets pissed about it. (hit F5 after it loads.)
