I find I much prefer handsewing, almost everything on one of my elizabethans except for the 3+ meter hems is handwork.

I love the snow leopard costume.

Spark, those fursuits of yours are awesome! I bookmarked the site, I'll be passing it on to a friend of mine who wants a fursuit sometime in the future. And those angel wings! OMG, I love those! Are those something you'll be posting a tutorial for? Very clever use of foam, that's for sure.

I'm not sure what sort of tutorial I could make, as it basically goes "Look at bird, draw wings, cut out feathers, glue together." It took forever, since many of the feathers were individually cut, but you could copy any photo of a bird's wings, it doesn't take any particular skill.

Just don't translate "I am a sewing machine" in my language (Dutch), or rather, dialect / slang, because then it would become REALLY inappropriate and even more demeaning than the way those "customers" are treating you.

Our word for sewing, "naaien", also means, um, screwing. And when we call someone a "naaimachine"... well, that is not exactly a compliment!

But in all seriousness, I'm a craftster myself and I would be really put out by an email like that - so I feel your pain and I'm sorry they're treating you this way.

If I may, I'd suggest that if he REALLY wants it, he WILL pay customs for it. Or come get it himself. But that might make it worse.

OMG RUDE. geez. OR tell him well since he doesn't want to pay customs for it then I guess he cannot has it. or my fave, go talk to customs to get a price adjustment thats not your department. hugs and comforts. Still loving the work you did for me months ago!
I wear it once a week at least!

I was just wondering if those wings used any sort of framework to hold them up or give them some shaping. I have to admit, before seeing those I never thought of using craft foam to make feathered wings before! I've seen tutorials for making armour using craft foam (which actually turns out looking pretty nice), but not wings. Those are awesome.

As a Canadian, I'm ashamed of the SC in the OP. It's people like that who make things harder for people like me. I've seen folks who refuse to ship outside the US, partly because of suckiness from international customers, and it annoys me. Hello, I wanna give you money and I promise I won't suck! I've never asked anyone to devalue a package to save me duty fees, or bitched that international shipping costs more. (Although I have seen some ebay scammers charging absolutely stupid shipping fees- $45 shipping for a Star Wars comic and figure pack, shipped by regular USPS, Come on!)

There's a heavy gauge wire glued into them at the "shoulder" which I used to attach them to a sort of backpack harness, but other than that nothing at all in 'em but foam and glue.

That is really cool. Prior to seeing those wings of yours, I was thinking that it could cost me a LOT of money to build a set of angel wings for a costume I'm considering making (feathers and all). I am SO showing your site to a friend of mine, he's gonna love the fursuits

*chuckles* I make fursuits, if that's what you're asking about. www.sparkcostumes.com is me.
                        *STARES AT THEM THAR WINGS*

                        *Drops to knees and prostrates*

I think it's unanimous; we like the wings. What would it cost me for you to build the wings (and the spiky dragon horns because those are so frikken COOL and omg the loonakits are cuuuuute!) for me?

                        .....I just lost all my man-points, didn't I?

                                HDSGDFSFGUG!! NO PINK AND SPARKLY!

I already put on the harness (and no one noticed) WHY do you insist on the sparkly?

....crap, the pink-sparkly is gonna be like the pink-camo and the bacon memes, isn't it?
