  • So you're not good at sports: it's a very small part of life.

"Sports, sports, sports, sports, sports, sports, sports, sports...Marge, Bart rides up in the front seat today because he's a good guy at sports."

This guy ticked me off. SC asks if there's a football game this Sunday.

    Me: I don't know. I don't follow sports.

SC starts laughing his ass off and going off on how we have the Denver Broncos and yet I don't follow sports.

    SC: You're probably a bookworm aren't you?
    Me: I read some books.

Actually for the record, I'm not classified as a bookworm. I'm a gamer strong and proud.

    Oh gosh. x.x

This reminds me a bit of something that happened in high school. The senior class was planning to do a big senior trip, and one of the suggestions was Denver. They were all talking about going to a Broncos game or whatever kind of sporting event was available at the time. I had the audacity to mention going to the nature and science museum. The general reaction I got to my suggestion was this-

I'm not a sports person. Going to see a game doesn't interest me. I'd much rather go to the museum because it's got a lotta freakin' cool stuff.

I'm not sure how it compares to other cities, but our natural history museum kicks ass. You could spend all day in the section called the Hall of Life and learn so much about the human body.

Awesome. :3 Yeah, my parents and I went to the nature and science museum to check out the Body Worlds exhibit a few months ago. And the art museum for the King Tut exhibit. Both were incredibly interesting (though my dad's stories about having been to the Cairo Museum were actually more interesting than the King Tut thing)

I was a a corporate event last year (a full day of golf on the company's dime! WOOT!)

The various departments each sponsored a game of some sort with a drawing for a prize.

One department's prize involved a day at the Viking's training camp.

One of the department heads was bubbling on about how the BIG DEAL was that you'd get to meet ****ADRIAN PETERSON***!!!!

She was going on and on about this, when she stopped.

She studied me very carefully. For twenty or thirty seconds or so.

She tilted her head to the side and said, "You have no idea who that is."

          I said, "Of course I do! He's a . . . football . . . player of some kind!"

"So, this prize of a full day at the Vikings training camp would be a waste of a perfectly good day for you, then."

          "Pretty much, yeah."

          "Interesting."

People always seem surprised that the big, beefy guy has no interest in football.

Count me among the guys who could care less about sports. I'd also much rather spend time at a museum or library than a sporting event.

I always hate how people seem to think it's odd that I don't follow any sports. I was never any good at sports, and I find ballgames and such boring to watch, so I never developed an interest in sports.

My eyes just glaze over when people won't talk about anything else.

Yeah, I met a woman a couple weeks ago like that. She simply could not comprehend that I didn't give a damn about sports, football, or the alleged quarterback that was hanging around the place she kept trying to pathetically name drop the entire time.

Just could not freaking believe it.

Couldn't hold a conversation about anything else, either, apparently.

I enjoy playing some sports, but I never understood the appeal of watching them. I get pissed off when I turn on the TV expecting my Sunday night cartoons (Simpsons, Family Guy, etc) and find a ball game instead.

Damn, I gotta move outta this godforsaken town. Looks like all the men who couldn't care less about sports live somewhere else.

Heh... my dad called me yesterday and asked me if I was watching the game this weekend...

Silence as I blink on my end of the line... and then answer, "Game?"

My dad laughs and says "Yeah... Michigan vs. Michigan State, you know?"

My only response is, "Oh shit, tell me where they're playing so I can avoid that city..." since I'm a half hour from Ann Arbor and was planning on heading out there for lunch Saturday. So of course, they're playing at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor.

I love how they sit their soft, squishy asses in their recliners, drink beer and eat nachos in their climate controlled living rooms, watching the game, then afterward say "we won!"

No, they freaking didn't. Not unless they were playing football somewhere they didn't.

Well, the HR lady at work who has to be sleeping with someone from the United Way because it's all she ever talks and e-mails about........she finally found a way to get money to her stupid cause.

Raffle tickets. All proceeds go to United Way. Prizes are all tickets to Packer games this year, bigger ones like Packers vs Vikings and Cowboys and whatnot.

I hate the United Way, I wouldn't even care if I won tickets to the Packer Viking game where they finally gave Favre the injury that would send him into permanent retirement.

I just don't have the attention span for sports. Halfway through and I have no idea who's winning. All that special tv technology they have now (like that line for the first down in football) help me pay attention, though.
