Are you saying that if guys touch each other without alot of clothes on they, and any man watching must be gay? I think the only people who seriously believe that are middle school boys who refuse to shower after gym class. As a former high school wrestler I can attest that it is not true.
All I'm saying is that it looks erotic and that when you have grown men sitting around shrieking at it on a TV screen, the whole thing is also immature. Therefore, I expressed my disdain. I honestly don't give an oily crap one way or the other.

Add me to the list of well-rounded peeps. I was a jock throughout high school plus I love to read and game but I can't really get into following sports. It also doesn't help that I come from Orange County*, land of the bandwagoners. We root for whoever is winning, not stick to a team for life kind of people. (Really...who was an Angels fan before winning the World Series 8 or so years ago? or whoever is top: USC or UCLA ) So it was a shock to meet up with my bf's family who are diehard Notre Dame/Rams fans who must be watching Sportscenter at all times.

But I do really get into the Olympics every 2 years (summer and winter) but that is due to my dad having gone back in the day.

you'd get to meet ****ADRIAN PETERSON***!!!!
my first thought: ... who? yeah, i semi-follow baseball/yankees but that's about it.

translation: i like them and i know derek jeter's on the team (yay i like him) and a-rod (meh, what a diva), but most of the players i'm familiar with played about 10 years ago. and my favorite yankee is in the baseball diamond in the sky giving out big hellos and dining on angelic cannolis (scooter! )

other than that, i'm a bit "meh" about sports. and football doesn't impress me much... unless the players aren't wearing padding (aka rugby or australian football)

Winter/Spring? I've seen those colors at Duck's games. Seriously. Why are you wearing that oversized Kobe NBA jersey at a Hockey Game on the other side of the Orange curtain? (And while you're at it, pull up your pants, put on a belt, and tie your freaking shoes!)

There are two kinds of people in Southern California. Those who rabidly love the Lakers, and those who hope they lose so that those who rabidly love them will just be quiet and go away.

          Guess which one I am...

Honestly? I couldn't even begin to tell you when hockey season is (I would think winter since hockey = cold to me..i know the games are indoors! ) As far as I know hockey is soccer with ice, skates and a stick to smack people with ( no offense hockey lovers!)

but I gotta ask...do they still quack at the games? (I'm not a 90s kid...no...)

I enjoy playing some sports, but I never understood the appeal of watching them. I get pissed off when I turn on the TV expecting my Sunday night cartoons (Simpsons, Family Guy, etc) and find a ball game instead.

I could not possibly care less about sports in general, but I do love me some Saints ... Then again, that could very well be the law here >_< Not liking Da Saints in this town would be like abhoring Mardi Gras and music festivals...in other words, "...And you live here, why?"

Like Jay, I'm a Redskins fan, even when they're the Deadskins (much of the time the past few years).

And like most of the consensus here, I'm not much into organized sports.

Sports can be a lot of fun when played "pickup style" among friends and/or neighbors. I played volleyball this evening with other faculty/staff at my CC against the women's team. It's our 5th annual matchup that started as a warm up game for the team in their first year.

We get creamed every year But it's so much fun, we keep doing it year after year.

This year I actually managed to score 2 points! Woot!

The rest of the year I'm stuck between Carolina and Duke fans to don't get that there's more to life than watching a bunch of pseudo professionals show off for the pros.

Back on topic - The SC was rude and disrespectful laughing at you after you told him you didn't follow sports. I understand that some people just aren't interested - if someone I was talking to told me they didn't like sports, I'd apologize and move on.

Ahem. I'm just here to put up the appropriate icon that will be in place from now until next May.

And to inform you that hockey season starts tonight. I'm posting during the first intermission.

P.S. Folks, my interest in sports is limited to hockey and golf. Aside from that, it's books and games and cooking. Now where in the blue hells is my Sims3 disc? BRB.

At least you have a baseball team that doesn't suck I gave up on the Pirates years ago. There's no point in watching them--they're guaranteed to lose, no matter which team they play. 18 losing seasons, in fact
Shows what you know. They may not have lost for 18 seasons in a row, but they're rarely playoff contenders.

However, I feel your pain...and still wonder why they didn't make their new stadium have a retractable roof. They get rained out plenty in the early months.
                          Unseen but seeing
oh dear, now they're masquerading as sane-KiaKat

"Sports, sports, sports, sports, sports, sports, sports, sports...Marge, Bart rides up in the front seat today because he's a good guy at sports."

This guy ticked me off. SC asks if there's a football game this Sunday.

                            Me: I don't know. I don't follow sports.

SC starts laughing his ass off and going off on how we have the Denver Broncos and yet I don't follow sports.

                            SC: You're probably a bookworm aren't you?
                            Me: I read some books.

Actually for the record, I'm not classified as a bookworm. I'm a gamer strong and proud.
I'm a sports fan but I remember a time when I wasn't a sports fan. And I find it quite humorous when sports fans start knocking on fans of other things when there are many sports fans that can recite various facts and what not.

Heh... my dad called me yesterday and asked me if I was watching the game this weekend...

Silence as I blink on my end of the line... and then answer, "Game?"

My dad laughs and says "Yeah... Michigan vs. Michigan State, you know?"

My only response is, "Oh shit, tell me where they're playing so I can avoid that city..." since I'm a half hour from Ann Arbor and was planning on heading out there for lunch Saturday. So of course, they're playing at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor.

                              I am a self-proclaimed book worm. And a geek.
Actually during the game Ann Arbor is quite nice because there's nobody around....However try to avoid there before or after the game because it's a zoo. Me, I will be at that game....

I watch baseball once in a while, and I might even go to a game with friends if tickets are cheap. (Nosebleed Heaven seats at the Skydome are cheaper than a movie.) Otherwise I couldn't care less about team sports. Individual sports are fun to watch, though -- skiing, snowboarding, cycling, or anything involving horses.

And thanks to hauntedheadnc's comments I really should pay more attention to Greco-Roman wrestling... mmm.
