Oh, I love their hats. They're dealers at the anime convention I work for, and it always makes me sad that I rarely have time to visit the dealers room to get one. V_V
I spent my Halloween at another anime convention in Houston. You're extremely lucky that you didn't have the problems with the hotel and police that we did.
We kept getting stopped back of house while we were escorting the band from place to place. NOT good when they've got somewhere they need to be. Even after the hotel told the police that people with certain staff badges were allowed back of house, we STILL got stopped all the time by officers who couldn't seem to comprehend that my staff badge means I get to go where I damn well please. I actually had to hold my badge up in one female cop's face to point out the "STAFF" in huge letters, and she still detained us until we could get a hotel liaison down to point out that "staff" means "staff" and that she was to let us come and go freely. Even the hotel liaison had a "WTF" expression after that one. V_V

I've worked at another convention in the Chicago area where the police hate us... too many times we've had to call the cops and way WAY too many ambulances... and stuff getting broken.
This convention? No ambulances to my knowledge, no arrests, no medical emergencies of any sort, nothing broken in the hotel, no damages... hell, even the one elevator that broke down was fixed quickly.
But I know what you mean.
And yeah... I LOVE these hats. This is the second year that I've helped S sell her hats at this specific convention. It's so much fun! Plus I've brought hats from her & her brother at the chicago convention.
WOW, 9000 people for one con! Holy crap, makes the cons I've been to (science fiction & some others) seem puny by comparison!
The hats are cute! Bunny hats rock!
The Sci-Fi cons I go to are smaller... as for this con, it was the 6th year so next year will be even larger, since it's still growing. This is the 3rd hotel we've been at since we outgrew the other two.
I go to (and used to work at) another anime convention in the Chicago area that's about twice the size of the one I was at this weekend. But then, it's been around for twice as long.

the convention I regularly attend is like a little under half that size, and we STILL get issues similar to those listed.. One of these years I want to volunteer, mostly because I've gone so much I know the place like the back of my hand, and as an older anime fan it's harder to find things you're interested in.. though this convention is very good at finding a balance between stuff for the 15-17 year olds and stuff for the 18+ crowd. The elevator issue in particular is rough for the convention, and the convention president promised last year that they were working hard with the staff of the hotel to try and resolve the problems with the elevator (including people riding up to go down and vice versa, and people holding down the door close button so the elevator won't stop until they reach a destination floor..)

The "door close" button is great when you have a packed elevator and everyone is going down to the bottom floor so that it doesn't have to stop at every floor and disappoint people... but that should only be used by someone on staff when the elevator is PACKED and people are going to the same floor. I've also used it when I've had to get guests or someone injured/ill to a floor quickly. But those are allowable situations.
It shouldn't be used if there's room in the elevator for other people unless it's an emergency situation. But people are selfish and only think about themselves.
Unfortunately, you get crowded elevators at just about all conventions... it's just a difference between a 1000 person convention with 2-3 elevators, a 4000 person convention with 4-6 elevators, and a 9000 person with 12 elevators. Or like the chicago convention where there's 19000 people and 4 elevators.
Volunteering is great... so is staffing. I'm probably going to be going line/security-ish type work next year... not on actual security (because security is run through a contracted group of people all through the head of security's dojo so it's impossible to get on it) but through a group of staff who do a lot of things that security SHOULD do but don't.
But that's something that would go under "Cursing out Coworkers" or "Morons in Management" and I'm not wanting to get into it right now.

I bought 2 last night for gifts: the frog one for my mum and one of the ones with huge bunny ears that become a scarf for my boyf (he did pick that one). I will be ever so popular! Thanks for the link
Hehe, I'd love one of those....do you know if they will ship to Australia? Even though it's getting to be summer over here, I would love the awesomeness in bunny hat form.

Yay! Glad you ordered.... I love the bunny-scarfs too!

They do ship international. $5 for the first hat & $3 for each additional hat. They have more info on the "ordering" page.
And I wear the hats year round... *hides*

Gah, and you have to post such things right before I go off to run the video rooms at a convention this weekend! We even have a bit of cloak and dagger going on already, involving federal agents--more on that later if things progress, and I hear about it.
