Even though I went to the convention with the best intentions to NOT work... and I had a comp badge.... yeah, I think I put in about 30 hours, helping with lines and also with a friend (S) selling hats in the Dealer's Room.

Hahah... oh, I tried that at GenCon. It was about three hours before I had a volunteer's badge and was checking entry into the Dealer's Hall.

Nowadays I don't even try to resist. Four(ish) cons and counting...

I've been looking for a kitty hat with scarf flaps, but the flaps being the kitties paws. Like, long enough to wear as a scarf too. It would be the best hat, beside the blue bunny!
And now I want to yell out "Bunny hat! BUNNY HAT!" but I think it would startle hubby, and he's playing one of those thinking games.

I wish I could too... I loved having you as my Sup. But I'm persona non grata at that convention for at least the next year... maybe in 2012 if they'll let me back!

I'm planning on going this next year as an attendee if I can afford a hotel room... right now that's not looking too good. Most of my non-staff friends who I used to room with either aren't going or else have full room. *shrug* It is what it is. But if I'm there, I'll stop by your room to hang out or at least say hi.

Yup. We were in the Ren Cen. OMG the people who were freaked out about "Detroit!!!eleventy!" You're NOT going to get hurt/mugged/etc. Especially not that close to the border... there are enough cops & border patrol around to pretty much stop anything.

The Ren Cen is probably the safest place in Detroit. Pretty good police patrol and stuff.

Unfortunately, for many years at Pengui I was a "Wenchie-shaped-blur" because I was doing too much stuff: webcomics programming head, guest liaison, on panels, running a march of dimes raffle... all at the same convention! So unfortunately I think more people recognize me than I do in return... which I always feel bad about!

But because I'll probably know you if I see you. And hi!

I have volunteered for Security at DragonCon. It was an experience, helping to wrangle 40,000 fans.

Then I was a booth minion for a friend at DragonCon. I had an easier time dealing with fans than with my friend's fanboys.
