  • Royal Marriage = Broken Contract

Those of you across the pond may not have heard this yet, but here in England Prince William has just revealed he is getting married. Now, I am half American, and even if I wasn't I probably wouldn't give a crap, because giving a crap about the marriages of people I have never met takes up valuable energy I could be expending on eating and sleeping. Plus, I had the dubious pleasure of meeting Prince Philip while I was at university and anyone marrying into that family must be as crazy as he is.

Anyway, as you can tell, this glorious news does nothing for me. Not so an author who rang up saying he wouldn't be able to get the pictures for his book to me by the end of the week, as per his contract. His reason? The looming royal nuptials meant he would be busy watching news coverage, as he is an ardent royalist, and it is soooo exciting and to be honest he wouldn't be able to gather the pictures in time, and did I understand? He is very excited and wasn't I? No. It's in the contract. No pictures, you don't get your advance. Suck it up. Just like Kate Middleton will have to...

I'm British and I really don't care either. It'll be so nice watching a lavish, multi-million pound wedding that my taxes have paid for.

Wow. A writer willing to blow a book advance for William's wedding. Its bad enough when I hear about "aspiring" writers who come up with all sorts of stupid excuses for not writing, but to actually hear about someone who has the writer's bolt from Olympus in his hand and is ready to throw it all away so he can watch a real life version of the The Prince and Me?

Sorry, but the only way I'd be interested in William's marriage would be if I had been the groom. Yes, I'd be the groom.

I feel sorry for the poor girl....she's probably being setup just like William's mother was. Cause you know he's next in line for the crown after his Dad, who will probably never see it anyway. It'll be like Charles and Diana all over again.

I'm an American and I remember the hype when Charles and Diana were married, the excitement of it all, watching it on tv, Diana's dress was the dress of my dreams, lol. Anyway, after almost 30 years of hearing about the Royals and their messed up lives, I really wish Kate and William good luck, they're going to need it. It seems like Kate is a strong willed smart girl with her own mind, hopefully she stays that way. Diana was much too sensitive for that family.

ergh, all that nonsense makes me glad i'm poor and screwed up; no one will take much interest in a dysfunctional poor person.

i also remember the hype of diana and charles; she was robbed!

I just wonder if Christine Lavin will update her "Prince Charles" song for William...

My parents married the year after Prince Charles and Princess Diana. Personally, I'd rather be an average Jane than a royal...Kate is gonna need a lot of luck now that she's gonna be in the royal family.

I'm just glad at least one of the kids got Diana's beautiful looks, and doesn't look like a horse's ass like Charles does.

He is a lovely man, that William.

Yeah, the news hit here today. Whoopee. Money and looks won't make your life perfect, as proven by Exhibit A, Diana.

Can't believe that guy intends to spend so much time watching TV coverage of this that he figures he can't get work done! Procrastinate much? Now he's got an excuse. Pardon me if I hurl, I only wish my problems included a deadline to get something to a publisher for my book!

If it's like any other marriage, she won't do that AFTER the ceremony. hehehe

Prince William is finally marrying Kate Middleton you say?

Whoopty-shoo. I plan on not watching the spectacle of their wedding.

                            I do, but I'm a monarchist/royalist anyway... *cough*

So! As to the original subject, that's still not a valid excuse. You know once he comes back to his senses, he'll do nothing but whine and complaint.
