Unless corporate is the type to always, and I mean ALWAYS give in to SC demands, I doubt this would go anywhere. If he accused you of being rude, okay. Hurling insults, sure. Being threatening or even stealing, well okay. But to accuse an employee of pulling a gun when they clearly have tapes and witnesses proving otherwise? Yeah, good luck with that one buck-o.

As somebody who can be a lot like Ron (big guy, very emotional, lack a lot of social skills..etc) thank you. While me crying has happened before, it is usually a bad sign..means I am getting angry..which I try to avoid at all cost..I can understand the frustration. Hope the asshat that thinks they are the king of the mountain, gets shown the fast way OFF the mountain.Engaged to the amazing Marmalady. She is my Silver Dragon, shining as bright as the sun. I would possibly suggest if he does go to corporate with a bs story like he says he will, file a civil suit against him for slander. If I dropped everybody who occasionally said something stupid from my list of potential partners, I wouldn’t even be able to masturbate

Okay, so most people think "video game fanatic" and associate that with a heavy-set, white American male, complete with pimples and bad people skills.
none of us are about to bring it up with him.
I know that was a stupid thing to do,
You have the right to work in a safe environment. That includes being safe from abusive customers.
And I'm glad the manager is backing both of you up. It sounds like that cockwallet may not be welcome back... and just think, wouldn't it be fun to call the cops on him if he does try?

If anything turns up, i'd love to know how it went.
I think you handled it well, and it's unfortunate that Ron gets that way with intimidating individuals. That's gotta be really rough on him. I have anxiety issues myself, and i know it's horrible enough. And i'm just a light case.
I hope he is doing alright now.I can only please one person a day, today isn't your day, and tomorrow doesn't look good either.

As a mother of a son with Aspbergers I want to thank you for standing up for Ron. You get extra cookies from me next time I make them.
It sounds like the jerk was raised to be bully and needed someone to put him in his place and I am glad you did.Do not annoy the woman with the flamethrower!

I also think you acted commendably in standing up for Ron the way you did. I would have likely done as you did in that situation. I have no tolerance for abusers and bullies. I'm not a manager at my current c-store, but I do conduct a lot of the new employee training because I have been at my location longer (almost 5 years) than any of the other employees including the manager and assistant manager. I also have management experience from a previous c-store job. So, I tend to be protective of new employees dealing with difficult customers and situations when I'm working. My store is lucky enough to have a pretty good crew right now, so we do work pretty well together when problems arise. The Borg wouldn't know fun if they assimilated an amusement park. -- B'Elanna Torres, Star Trek: Voyager

Man, that really sucks. Asshole. Good for you for sticking up for Ron.
Don't you ever want to just look a SC straight in the eye, and say, "Sir/Ma'am, would you tolerate treatment like this at your place of employment? No? Then what makes it okay for you to treat me like this?" Of course, most SC think they are better than those who serve them, so it probably wouldn't work.
One of the stores I frequent has a sign that says something like, "We treat our customers with the utmost respect, and appreciate it when they do the same." I asked the CS person if that actually helped, and she said that, yes, she's pointed to it a few times when customers start to get worked up, and it seems to calm them down. Nice to hear.

May if corporate would start realizing just how much "customers" like this cost them, they may start backing employees up more. I mean they have 30 day return policies for a reason and with things like software the best I've ever seen is that they will exchange it if your software is defective. And with good reason.
As for this person....I hate people like that.

I would write down everything that happened and keep it in a safe place "just in case". You never know how corporate will handle this. If they happened to discipline or terminate you then you would have documentation of everything that happened. Although somehow I think once he tells them that you pulled a gun on him they are not going to take anything he says seriously.
There really isn't much you can do about him being an obnoxious jerk. However, if you co-worker is mentally handicapped, that constitutes harassment based on handicap which is illegal under federal law. It is illegal for an employer to require that their employees stand there and take illegal harassment. Based on how he was acting, I think you had good reason to believe that he was becoming so enraged that he was going to cause you bodily harm. With documentation of the swearing, slamming his fists down and screaming loudly I can't imagine any judge that wouldn't agree that you felt unsafe having this guy in the store.

Kudos. I mean, you handled it far more logically and adult than I would. I really hate bullies, and the fact he made Ron cry is unacceptable. I'm pretty sure verbally abusing an individual fits some harrassment law, but I don't really speak law jargon so I have nothing to really back this claim on.
I think you're an awesome hero!
