I love piggies. When my piggy died in January, my heart broke. But yours made me smile, your piggy is sooo cute. Thank you for taking good care of him. <3 Hugs to you.

Congrats on your new pet. I hope the management backed you banning his ass.
I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!

What I think of the SC might even be too much for fratching, so there is that...

As for the furball, sooo small and cute. Evil overlord in the making there. When they take over the earth, and they will, you will be rewarded for your rescue of their grand and glorious leader.
Engaged to the amazing Marmalady. She is my Silver Dragon, shining as bright as the sun. I her Black Dragon (though good honestly), dark as night..fierce and strong.

Very sweet looking, and named after my favorite LOTR character to boot!

Poor guy; he was probably traumatized by that numbwit. He's only a baby, after all.

Bless your warm heart for taking this guy in! (Pippin, not the numbwit)

I also tried to introduce him to the dog. He freaked out and tried to burrow under the dog, who was just like, "WTF? What the hell is this?" before getting up and wandering off.

Today though, he much calmer. He's quieted down, unless I pull out the lettuce, which makes him go "SQUEEEEEE!" Which I can only presume means "MOAR LETTUCE!"
Now I'm picturing Donald Duck rubbing his hands (wings?) together and going "Oh boy oh boy oh boy."

From looking at the pictures, I can't tell if I'm looking at a baby guinea pig or a full-grown hamster. Hamsters are a lot quieter, though; they don't squee with excitement or purr with contentment. Guinea pigs seem to have a lot more personality. (I've only ever had hamsters, never guinea pigs, but I've seen other people's.)

According to the pet store, he's only 5 weeks old, so yeah, he's a baby.

We introduced him to the hamster yesterday. It was so cute. They were taking turns. Pippin sat there while the hamster checked him out, then the hamster sat there while Pippin checked him out...they just took turns checking each other out. It was adorable.

Does anyone else pop back in this post just to gaze at the cute little guinea pig? Or is it just me?

i agree about reporting the SC - after all you should have some identifying information on him.

except..... well would they try to confiscate Pippin as evidence? If so then I'd just wait for the fucked up man to come back and then call the cops on him.

And wait... Pippin.... i wonder if he wants to have a friend named Merry... they can steal carrots together!

Sounds like the guy was a step away from an episode of Hoarders. I'm glad you found the guinea pig before the worst happened.

My boss at the hotel where I worked ended up with a pet, thanks to a similar situation. We had some guests who wouldn't pay their rent, and after a few days of hearing that they would pay when they got back in from work that evening, my boss had had enough. She had the housekeepers confiscate everything in the room (including a Quaker parrot), and deactivated the lock.

They tried every trick in the book to get their stuff back, and she refused until they paid. As far as I know they never paid, and their stuff is still sitting in a storage shed. As for the parrot, we kept it in the laundry room for a few days before she took it home with her, where it died a few years later.

Seriously, that's an adorable little critter. Glad he has a good home now.

Not sure how well reporting the SC would work. We didn't think to take pics of the room...we had half of it cleaned up before we even realized there was an animal in there. I suppose we could argue the SC still hasn't returned for his stuff. Even then, I'm not sure how strong that evidence would be.

I'm pretty satisfied with reporting him to the pet store. They won't be selling to him again, and there's no other place downtown that sells live rodents (all the other places are up on the far north end of town). The only other place that sells live animals is this store's sister location next door, and they only sell fish and reptiles. (And you can bet those two stores talk!)

Plus, this way I can ensure that Pippin gets to be fully spoiled.

As evidenced by the pic below:

I'm not usually the biggest fan of guinea pigs but Pippin is irresistibly adorable, I'm happy to know he is now as spoiled as he deserves to be.
