[Victory Sabre]

The Ring Neck Brown Ale from Brau Brothers Brewing.

As the name implies, it is brown, with a very thick head. The nose is very pleasant. I get hints of nuts in the nose.

Taste - I also get a nutty flavor when drinking it. Very tasty, and a big improvement over the last beer. This is a very good example of a brown as the last one was a bad example of an IPA.

U.P. Witbier from Keweenaw Brewing out of South Range Michigan

Very light golden color, with an insane amount of head - almost didn't get the whole can in the glass. No nose to speak of.

Taste - it's a very light flavor, I do get hints of orange in it. Perfect beer for a hot day (ok mid 70s toady, be better Monday mid 80's)

U.P. Witbier from Keweenaw Brewing out of South Range Michigan

Considering beer's reputation (a.k.a. the jokes "You don't buy beer, you rent it", "It goes through you so fast because it doesn't have to stop and change colour), I have to ask - is the pun in the name intentional? Along the same lines as a member's name on this forum, that beer's name sounds a lot like "You pee with beer".

The "U.P." pays homage to the fact it is brewed in the UP of Michigan.

Beaver Island Fabulous Armadillo Session IPA

Golden colored, minimal head, minimal nose.

Taste: interesting. It is a fairly light flavored beer. There is some hop bite, which I like. It is a fairly easy drinking beer for a 90 degree plus day.

4 Bitten Fruit from Valkyre Brewing Company

Very light colored, very light golden. No head. I get a strong apple aroma in the nose.

Taste - I am not a big apple ale fan at all. That being said, this is the best one I've ever tasted. Most I take a sip, and want to chuck it. Not this one. It's flavor is fairly pleasing. It is fairly light, but enough apple is there to make it tasty.

Now would I take the 2 1/2 hour road trip to Dallas for this one beer - no. Would I consider getting it again, maybe.

Light golden colored, with a nice thick head.no npse.

Taste: this is very good. it has a refreshing beer. There is some sweetness, but just the right amount.

Well, for the first time this year I drank a mass produced beer - PBR. Wouldn't have, excwpt i needed it for the mini tour at Old Chicago.

Now to a real beer, I hope.

Wind Swept Belgian Style Witbier from Fargo Brewing Company.

Almost white in color, with a bit of head. No nose.

Taste : wow. This is good, really good. Second sip confirms it. It has a bit of sweetness, but not over the top. It feels light and refreshing after a long, hot, busy as all hell record setting day at work.

I have a feeling that there will be a 6 pack of this in my fridge soon.

Other beer news: a friend of mine is visiting her sister in Texas. I asked her if she could bring me a 6 pack of Buried Hatchet Stout from Southern Star berwery back. She said yes.

Damn, women never say yes to me. Maybe a trend. Doubt it.

Breckenridge Balpark Brown

Nice brown color with a thick head. I get somewhat of a nutty nose.

Taste : somewhat bland. There's kind of a bitter taste to it also, and not a good hoppy bitter. I will be glad when I am done with it.

Ok, wolfed that down, next beer.

New Belgium Skinny Dip.

I like cute gals skinny dipping, if I could actually find any, damnit. Hopefully this beer will live up to that. NB doesn't have a good track record with me.

Golden colored, moderate head. No nose.

Taste : well, this is an improvement on the last beer. Heck, Mick Ultra would be an improvement, but this is a legit improvement. There is a bit of hops in this beer. Slight citrus flavor. Very refreshing beer after a hot mid 80° day at work. Not something I would drink every day, but good today.

Agwa (spirit) - not only do you get drunk, you get a "high" from it as well since it is made from Coca leaves - Amazing with lime and soda water!!

Samuel Smith India Ale

Amber colored, with a thick head. Not too much to the nose. It almost has a sweetness to it.

Taste : this is a very strange IPA to me. It isn't rally hoppy, like IPAs I am used to. It is pretty good, even without that. It does have, somewhat of a citrus taste, but just a hint.

Tonight's beer is

Oculto made by Broken Barrel Brewing Company 6.0% ABV

Golden colored with a thick head.

The nose, I do like, just wish I could pin it down.

Taste : well, it is interesting. The beer is aged in Tequila barrel staves. That does have an influence on this beer. Not a bad choice tonight. It is good, and a 6.5 out of 10 is in order.

Zywiec Porter 9.5% ABV

Pours, and looks like motor oli. It is pitch black, with minimal head. Not much nose to it.

Taste : very nice. The flavor is amazing. There is almost a smoke flavor to this. The malts are very flavorful. I like this beer.

Seriously, when the hell will it get here and stay here, and stop teasing us?

Golden colored, with a moderate head. The nose is skunky, damn, I hope it isn't a bad omen.

Taste : well the nose is bad, but the taste is good, for the most part. There is a slight skunk to it, though. I am not sure about this beer. It does have a bit of good taste to it, but then the skunk creeps in.

Seriously, I want summer, and I want it when I'm on my mini vacation at Northwest Angle fishing.
