Well I thought we were going to get lucky and barely get anything tomorrow...until the NWS said the word blizzard. Joy of joys.
ETA: Boss just called. Late start tomorrow...if I go in at all. Can I just have a normal week please?
Tonight the weather forecast brougt a blizzard warning for Monday, Tuesday AND Wednesday. Considering the fact that all public transportation grinds to a halt if more than just one snowflake falls, I'm expecting a very "exciting" commute the next couple of days...
A theory states that if anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for, it will be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.
Another theory states that this has already happened.
Can we go one day without a damn watch/warning? Even on our "day" off of any real activity, the weather service has us in an advance watch/warning without fail.
Replying again to add one more thing. You know what DOESN'T help? Every fucking customer through my doors today reminding me that this day last year we had temperatures in the 80s. Just...shut. UP! Gah!

Yeah VS, I don't really mind a little more snow, but we're slated for some pretty intense windage here too, and that always bites. Fingers crossed that it's the last real blast.
ETA this little cartoon. Can't attribute, except WYDR's FB feed.
Last day of winter was a couple of days ago... how come no-one told the weather? -.- Still freezing cold, snow is threatening and sometimes I feel I'm living in Narnia, what with the endless winter.
People who don't like cats were probably mice in an earlier life. My DeviantArt.
Are we playing topper games? Because if we are I am currently typing from a hotel in Grand Prairie, Alberta. I had an assignment here and due to a morning blizzard that essentially covered the highway from here to Edmonton I have to stay another night.
Getting off the phone with my folks who are in Edmonton they tell me an other foot fell this morning. All Highways around the city are either poor or closed.
To top of the "end" of winter, my car got stuck in my boyfriend's driveway, and because it took so much fucking effort to get it unstuck, I had a dent in my trunk until my dad was able to find the suction tool.
Seriously, it hasn't been this cold in March since 81. Hasn't been this snowy since the early 90s.
SO OVER IT.
Bet you my bottom dollar, a month from now, we might be in the 40s. Maybe 50s by May. We'll be observing tornado awareness in April in the middle of another blizzard.
I wonder, what are the chances of a tornado *during* a blizzard? I don't know enough about them to know if it's even possible.
My wife and I were just speculating on this the other day as we watched some snow swirlies dance across the field. I'm guessing not, since the big part of tornado formation is contrasting air temps, but I'm off to google it. It'd be interesting to see . . . on television.

Next to nil. The conditions for it require a cold upper mass sitting on top of a warm lower mass at ground level. The shifting of the air masses to balance out (aka heat rises) causes a mesosyclone (think of a high altitude hurricane) to occur. A tornado is essentially a breach in that mesocyclone reaching ground level.
This situation actually requires the warm air mass to have enough energy to force the narrow breach. Sub zero temps don't have enough energy to pull it off in such a concentrated fashion. Blizzards are the same principal but due to the lower energy the mesocyclone is weaker so breaches aren't as concentrated.
In theory it's possible but I don't think the conditions are capable of occurring on Earth.
